Embarrassinggggggg! What IS a campaign. I don’t know how to get ideas for a campaign if I don’t know what one is. Sorry

  • 2 Jackie and Andrea // Jan 11, 2009 at 10:08 am

    Hey Kati,

No biggie. A campaign is simply the set of lenses you are going to build on one related topic.

In One Week Marketing you are asked to build lenses on one related topic. This is the campaign topic.

Everything you do with this “keyword or idea” is what is called your campaign. So the lenses and marketing of these lenses is considered your campaign.

Hope that makes things a little more clear. :)

You’re doing great. Just keep moving forward, one step at a time :)

    Hi Jackie & Andrea:

I have some ideas. I look forward to seeing if they are worth pursuing.

  • 4 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 1, 2009 at 8:22 pm

    Denise,

That’s great. Just remember it’s a bit of a numbers game. Not every campaign will be a home run, the point of one week marketing is to keep moving and keep creating, some of them will be hits. :)

    Keep up the good work!

This part has always been my stumble block. I’m mobility challenged …..as we call it so quaintly now Also I’m a senior….almost reaching my second childhood.
Now, this souns worse than it really is. But the fact is that I do not go to stores. Hubby does ALL the shopping.
Yes, we do have TV but I must be the only person in the country who sees 34981/2 shows or part shows per day.
Hubby rules the remote and clicks every three seconds. when he Does find a show he clicks away from the channel during commercials.
I will have to do something about that.
And I always thought I had a great imagination, but it’s letting me down.

Hey Joyce, do we have the same husband?? Mine does the same thing!!

You know you are actually in a fantastic position to know a market quite well. I’m sure there are other people who are “mobility challenged” what tools, items do you use/need to manage through your day??

Those would probably be great topics!! At least to get started with. There are more ways to gather campaign ideas, but I would start with what you see around you, what you use everyday, what would make life easier for you, what you wish you were doing during the day.

One thing you can try is to make a list of EVERYTHING around you. Wherever you are sitting, just start making a list of everything you can see around you, down to pens, nothing is too small. We’ll show you what to do with them later. :) Just get a nice list going.

Hope that helps, and if it didn’t let me know. I’ll see what else I can come up with.

You would think it’s “easy” to come up with ideas, and after a few minutes of doubting, you just throw down the walls and start writing. The next thing you know you’ve got 20 and still rolling.

So, this is how the campaign begins, keyword, research, etc.?

  • 8 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 15, 2009 at 8:08 pm

Make sure read OWM so you have an overview of how the process works.

Then come here and do the steps one at a time, follow along, take action and you will have everything you need to create profitable campaigns.

    Hello Andrea & Jackie
I have my Google a/c and email address organised and I have a short list of ideas for campaigns. However, unlike you I seem to lean towards non-concrete products (eg. how to learn to drive - not that this is one of my proposed products). I have downloaded Marketing Tools as a WinZip file. I have not yet unzipped the file and do not subscribe to Winzip and don’t really want to. I know there is a way to unzip through Internet Explorer as, with some outside help, and have done it before. Are you able to tell me how to do it?
    Regards
    RUSSELL

  • 10 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 20, 2009 at 7:35 pm

    Hey Russell,

have you tried to right click on the zip file? You may see a place to extract all when you do. That’s how mine works. I’m not sure exactly how it works but it does. I think it came with XP?

Don’t worry about your ideas yet, you might be surprised at how some of these topics can be monetized.

Andrea is much better at things like opening zip files, but she’s done for the night. I’m sure she’ll be able to help you tomorrow if it doesn’t work.

The tools are just stuff to help you stay organized and keep track of stuff, so keep on going, even if you can’t get them open tonight. :)

Hi guys, I have a question. I have been doing what you say about finding campaign ideas to looking at what’s advertised on TV, amazon, what’s in the news etc. But what I find so frustrating is any idea I come up with, when I go to squidoo there are already a slew of lenses on that topic. I see new products that came out from wii fit to amazon kindle etc. and there are so many lenses already. How do you handle this. Do we really want to write about something obscure? How do you monetize that? Dawn

  • 12 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 27, 2009 at 5:05 pm

    Hi Dawn -

Maybe think in the direction of “stuff I find really useful” or “problems that people are looking for solutions for.

See, the things that have product names exist because they answer a want in the marketplace.

Think about what you’ve personally purchased in the last year or 6 months - sometimes the most common place (not necessarily obscure) topics that can be a great place to turn your attention. You know there’s a market, cause you’ve bought it - study your own buying habits. YOU are your best market measure.

Something else - just because there are already lenses on Squidoo does not make it a bad topic - depends on the search and demand numbers of each individual phrase. And then look to see if they’re at the top of google for your phrases - that’s what matters most - have they been marketed effectively.

This is the biggest learning curve to the whole process so don’t get discouraged - at some point you turn a corner and PRESTO you have WAY more niches than you know what to do with - keep your radar on :)

    hth,
    Andrea

Hello, day 2 and plugging away. This is fun. Got some ideas, but the list grows by the hour (minute?), how much is too much?? Looking forward to tomorrow. Thanks.

  • 14 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 12, 2009 at 7:04 pm

    Grin - Hi Rodrigo …

Cool isn’t it?? This is sort of a habit you grow into - so it’s a never ending thing. Just keep a sort of running list, k?

The next couple of days will help you begin to refine your niche finding skills.

Excellent that things are flowing for you and that you’re having fun :)

Appreciate you for sharing that with us!

Hi all! I just want to be sure, did I buy OWM with my monthly membership for this site or do I need to still go to clickbank and get that?

  • 16 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 17, 2009 at 10:55 am

    Hi Joel -

You’ll need to grab a copy of OWM in order to follow along with these step-by-step lessons.

    Sorry for the confusion,
    Andrea

  • 17 Joel Champe // Mar 17, 2009 at 12:37 pm

No, no :) I just want to be sure I’m not buying the same thing twice. Thanks!

  • 18 Ozer Tayiz // Apr 3, 2009 at 6:34 am

Wow! I loved the checklist that you gave me. This makes the whole process so much easier to track… Now, if I just can make it into a Google Document and make it into an online form…

  • 19 Charlotte Kimbriel // Apr 14, 2009 at 2:21 pm

    I feel like I’m lost in a jungle…
from what I read and what you say I guess I got it all wrong . I through I was to go to Clickbank and pick out something there first then build my keyword around that, Boy do I need LOTS of help

  • 20 Jackie and Andrea // Apr 14, 2009 at 3:36 pm

    Hey Charlotte,

Glad you found your way here! You can do that, but the thing is you want to make sure you are finding keywords that relate to the product that have searches and are not so competitive that you will be able to rank for them in the search engines.

It’s a chicken and egg discussion. You can find your product first or you can get ideas first and match a product to them.

Either way make sure the keywords you are going to use fit he criteria you will be learning in upcoming lessons.

The comments here are so helpful. I read Joyce’s comments regarding being house bound, to an extent. I, too, do not get out much - -physical limitations. And, I don’t even watch TV. Don’t think I have one in the house that will pick up two channels. I do read a great deal. Your suggestion to look around you helped me. That’s what I did and I came up with several ideas, and expanding on each item will make more.
    Thank you for including comments.

  • 22 Jackie and Andrea // Jul 2, 2009 at 4:42 pm

    Hi Susan -

And see it’s comments like yours that make it all worth doing - we each have our little bit to add and between us we’ll all get just as far along in this process as we want to.

    Good stuff!

    Hi Jackie &Andrea
I am looking for some ideas and I have got some noted on my check list.I haven’t looked into Amazon and Ebay. What else should I do? I too am a bit confused.

  • 24 Jackie and Andrea // Sep 30, 2009 at 9:06 am

    Hi George,

At this stage you’re just coming up with ideas of possible topics you might do a campaign on. Think about things you’re interested in, things you like to do, topics that interest you. Write them down. We’ll be going over what to do with your ideas in the next lesson.

    Hi Jackie and Andrea,

Great product, this Learn it Step by Step. Just what I need. I feel the lights going on and on and on!

I just started to think about what I want in my own life, then did a little Ebay/ Internet surfing to see what products are selling to address these wants and voila a list of ideas has come about which is turning into possible campaigns.

    Thanks so much.

  • 26 Jackie and Andrea // Dec 23, 2009 at 11:29 am

    Hi Laura -

    Neat neat!

This “take a look around” is largely Jackie’s process and helped me bunches too!

Potential niches are only limited by our imagination - enjoy the hunt!!

    Best,
    Andrea

    Hi Jackie and Andrea,

So what we are doing here is thinking up products that we want to sell, is that right

    Art

  • 28 Jackie and Andrea // Jan 22, 2010 at 2:40 pm

Actually you’re thinking of ideas you can build a campaign around. You may or may not feature the products you see in amazon. This is to brainstorm ideas.

  • 29 Arthur Dalton // Jan 22, 2010 at 4:43 pm

    Hi again Jackie

Maybe I’m getting a little slow in my old age but I don’t see how you can write a campaign if you don’t have a product to write it about. Or am I missing the whole picture here.

Is this the time to use MNF for keywords and topics to start a campaign? For instance I entered “Gifts for” to research and found a lot of ideas that I think would make a good Squidoo lens.

    Arthur

  • 32 Jackie and Andrea // Jul 13, 2010 at 8:14 am

You sure can use MNF here. Just make sure your possible keywords meet the criterion for search volume ~ and the upcoming criteria for competition. (those gift keyword are often very competitive so keep an eye on that)

    Hi again,
I typed a comment but clicked on “manage your subscription” before hitting Submit so I have to retype.
I am just now getting back to the task of step by step learning after a recent storm damage to my home. The damage is not life threatening but it will continue to take time for repairs while the weather permits. I am impressed at the progress by those having submitted comments
