On my lens, inside Squidoo, it is asking me if I want to Turbo it or just publish my page now. What should I do.

Also, I am afraid to pick a url for my lens, they say it is permanent and I cannot change it, is that true? If it is true, should I use the title of my lens as my url or the name of my campaign?

I picked a product to link to through clickbank, and created a hoplink. I copied it to a word doc to use later, not sure where I need to put it on my lens.

If there are ten different products all promoting the same product, can I hoplink all of them and make all ten products part of one campaign?

  • 2 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 8, 2009 at 4:30 pm

    Ty,
Before you even start making your lenses you should have chosen 5-7 KEYWORDS (keyword phrases) related to this campaign.

    Have you done this?

If you follow along you will see you are supposed to use your chosen keywords/keyword phrases as the url for your lenses.

This site was created the way it was for a reason. If you go day by day and read, and complete the activity for the day you will understand each of the next steps. Each step builds on the next, so you can’t skip around.

Once you have chosen your url you can not change it, which is why you do all the keyword research before you even get to squidoo.

Listen ~ I’m feeling some SERIOUS stress from you. Take a breath. Calm down, and relax a little. This is supposed to be fun. IF you wanted to suffer you could go get a J-O-B. :)

Regarding products. You want to choose 1 product. This is all covered within OWM, and in the conversations with Nick. You are promoting ONE product with this campaign. If you try to promote more than one you will not be focused which is what this is all about.

Showing people the benefit/solution for the one thing you have to offer.

You said: Have you done this? Yes

You Said : If you follow along you will see you are supposed to use your chosen keywords/keyword phrases as the url for your lenses. Thank you I have not set up any lenses because I wanted to wait to hear from you. I have a few lenses typed up on word and ready to copy to a lens, but I wasn’t sure what to do so I stopped.

Just to let you know, you both are saints if you can deal with me. I am a type A personality that thinks everything can be done in 10 min. But that’s Ok I have been learning reeaall slow and this business just cannot be learned fast. I am so sorry if I stress you out while I am being stressed.

As far product, sometimes I will throw things at you just to see what the potential is for this internet marketing thing. I really have no clue what I am doing, just asking questions.

Thank you again you both are great

  • 4 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 8, 2009 at 7:45 pm

It’s no problem Ty. However, if you just follow the process you will learn the basics of internet marketing which can then be replicated, reproduced, expanded on in any number of ways.

OWM is a fantastic way to learn the basics. It’s best to have a firm grasp on the basics before you try to expand.

Internet marketing is basically unlimited in earning potential. It’s just a matter of what you are willing to do consistently, and whether you can stay on track and do the “money making actions” regularly and consistently over time.

  • 5 TY EVANS // Feb 8, 2009 at 8:04 pm

Sorry, you’re right its like a golf swing, repetition is the key to everything in life, and I know it, I just have to stay in control. I lost control for a second.

Thanks, you both are so great.

I am burnt out today, have a great night, dont forget to tell your kids how much you love them. My kids love it. Good night

In the above lesson, there is a question:- “You did make a text document for this campaign right?

Have I missed something - I don’t know what a text document is. I can’t remember coming across the term, and I can’t find it in OWM, or in Nick’s conversation.

Could you clear this up for me please.

  • 7 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 10, 2009 at 7:26 am

    Hi Brambles -

In one of the earlier Lessons, it’s mentioned briefly - we should probably highlight it or something so it’s less confusing.

Meanwhile - a text document (.txt) is created with Notepad. You should have notepad or wordpad if you look in:

Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Notepad

You’re just creating a place to cut and paste campaign related info. You could also do this in a spread sheet. Word .docs work as well.

Notepad is good because you can most easily paste from there to anywhere - it doesn’t add in any extra (unseen) code.

  • 8 TY EVANS // Feb 10, 2009 at 7:35 am

If I use Microsoft Office Word 2007, is that ok, or should I start using Notepad

    Thanks

  • 9 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 10, 2009 at 8:25 am

    Hi Ty -

Whatever works for you is fine. You might want to do your articles in notepad though - Word puts in a lot of unseen stuff that is incompatible with Wordpress in particular - notepad is also useful for stripping out any weird code that might be in content you copy and paste from elsewhere.

Good advise, this stuff can get a little complicated, and I think we all agree, lets not make it anymore complicated than it is.

    Thanks

  • 11 Rebecca Fleckenstein // Apr 5, 2009 at 7:49 pm

    Hi Jackie and Andrea!

I made a hoplink for a clickbank product, however, when i pull up the sales page using my hoplink and I click the “download the ebook” link. At the bottom of the sales page it says (affiliate=none) instead of (affiliate=my clickbank id). I then went back to clickbank and created the hoplink again but the sales page still doesn’t show my clickbank id. How do i fix this? Do i need to contact clickbank? if so, how should i contact them?

  • 12 Jackie and Andrea // Apr 5, 2009 at 7:57 pm

    Hi Rebecca -

I would contact the seller and tell them exactly what you told us.

In my searches I decided to do online cooking classes. Running amok, I found a fabulous course that isn’t on clickbank or anywhere else. How can I find out if they are doing affiliate marketing perhaps on some other place (they are Canadian).

  • 14 Jackie and Andrea // Apr 28, 2009 at 4:07 pm

Most often I search for affiliate programs in Google like this:

    “keyword phrase” + affiliate

That might be a tough one though. I’m not seeing any right off the bat.

  • 15 Anita Armstrong // May 19, 2009 at 3:31 pm

    Hi,

Went thru the drill….got my keywords…looked in Clickbank and cbanylitics for an affiliate program…I found one..but it appears as if it’s been around since 2007….is that alright…or is that too old?

  • 16 Anita Armstrong // May 19, 2009 at 3:42 pm

    Hi,

I have a question….on cb-anaylitics this is what is being advertized:
    Gravity 1.48 -0.20
    Avg. week grav. 1.68
    Eearned per sale $31.65
    EPS initial / rebill $31.65 / $0.00
    Has recurring products NO
    Referred % 39%
    Commission % 70%
    Google PageRank 0

However, when I go to clickbank….it’s something like this….totally different…what’s with that?

    $/sale: $11.53 | Future $: - | Total $/sale: $11.53 |

    Can you explain…THANKS

Price for commission is way low….

  • 17 Jackie and Andrea // May 19, 2009 at 3:50 pm

    Hi Anita -

I would cross reference the price by actually going to the sale page (click through to the checkout to see the price in the cart). Then check the hoplink maker - it’ll tell you what percentage CB will pay out from that.

It’s possible that the product descriptions have not been entered right or maybe need updating.

As far as ‘age’ goes - depends entirely on the topic. Is it something that’s affected by time like technology based? Then it might matter. Is it something evergreen like scrapbooking? Then if it’s a good product, it’ll still be good.

    See what I mean?

  • 18 Judith Turner // May 23, 2009 at 11:05 am

    Hello Jackie and Andrea,
I have just finished another lens and am going back through to check my work. I am curious, what do you think about making all links open in a new window (affiliate links, links to your blogs etc). I did this with all my links that lead away from Squidoo but now I am wondering if maybe there is a reason I shouldn’t be doing it.

  • 19 Jackie and Andrea // May 23, 2009 at 11:24 am

Oh I think the point is to get them to the affiliate page ~ so once they’ve clicked through you’ve accomplished your goal.

There’s no reason you shouldn’t unless it takes you a ton of time ~ that you could be using to build more lenses lol. :)

    Jackie

  • 20 Judith Turner // May 23, 2009 at 12:01 pm

Thanks Jackie. I appreciate your quick response.

  • 21 Barbara Paine // Jun 2, 2009 at 8:27 am

You mentioned in the lesson that you want to record the hoplink info so later on you’ll know what product your commission was from —

I’m wondering how you know this just by looking at the hoplink. The one I just generated looks more like a “tiny url” link with various letters and numbers followed by .hop.clickbank.net/

How will I be able to see the seller’s name as you mentioned? Or did I miss something? Thanks!

  • 22 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 2, 2009 at 8:37 am

    Hi Barbara -

That’s a new format CB is using to cloak the links. So now you can get it by doing this:

Right click on the “view pitch page” link and ‘copy link location’.

Then paste it into your records with your hoplink. The pitch page link will show ZZZZZ where your username goes. The next word is the seller’s ID.

  • 23 Michelle Houser // Jun 8, 2009 at 9:05 pm

Ok, I’ve been following through step by step because believe me after months and months of reading I am overwhelmed! So anyway, I am to the point where I have my keywords, search volume and competition (or what I hope is correct) and I was ready for step nine - find a ClickBank Product. Well, I actually have one in mind. The thing is that it keeps saying go to members area to upgrade??? I’m confused I thought my membership was good for a month? Anyway, it won’t let me go on, and now I’m thumbing through my stuff thinking I’ve missed a step because I haven’t signed up for my Squidoo account yet or anything! HELP! Where have I gone wrong???

    Sincerely,
    Michelle

  • 24 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 8, 2009 at 9:14 pm

For the monthly membership you only get access to a certain amount of the content each month. Next month you will have access to more of the content.

For access to all the content at one time you can upgrade to the annual membership.

If you really want to stick with the monthly ~ go ahead and research more niches so you can have a bunch of campaigns ready to go when you get the next set of content.

    Hi Jackie & Andrea,

What importance do you place on gravity in choosing a clickbank product?

Remembering to stay in the kiddie pool I avoid those products which have a very high gravity.

Personally, would you promote a product that has a gravity of below 5 or below 10, assuming that the product has been around for more than a year.

In short, what is your rule of thump, say between…and…gravity in choosing a product.

I think this is important because one reason for a product having a low gravity is the rate of returns which caused many affiliates to abandon it. And the graphical data on CBAnalytics tracks the gravity of the last 2 months only and so we are clueless on the reason for the low gravity. Do you have any tips on optimizing the use of CBAnalytics?

Similarly, what does it tell you if a product has a low referred rate say 30%, which means the publisher sells 70%. Do you read anything into it.

    Thanks

    Greg

  • 26 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 25, 2009 at 8:35 am

Wow ~ I personally don’t put that much analysis into it. Analyzing that much is just too much work for a test lens.

I don’t look at gravity ~ I don’t even think about gravity. I go to the sales page and read it. I look at it from the perspective of a buyer ~ would it sell me on the product? If I can answer yes, then it’s a go.

Don’t worry much about the referred rate either ~ although it may be more difficult to get your foot in the door with a product owner who is actively promoting the product.

Gravity is simply the number of affiliates who have sold 1 copy of this product in a certain period of time ~ I think it’s 6 months?

If you’re using CBanalytics and looking at new products NONE of them will have high gravity because there simply hasn’t been time for affiliates to have sold the product :)

My biggest tip to all these questions is this:

Don’t overanalyze ~ pick something and try it. You’ll never make any money just analyzing products you have to get your content into the world.

If you’re using a redirect you can easily replace the product you’ve chosen with something else if you find it doesn’t convert. :)

  • 27 Breakthroughguy // Jun 25, 2009 at 9:58 pm

    Hi Jackie,

What sound advice. I’m most grateful.

I know that I have a tendency to over-analyze things and I have this perfectionist streak too - both rather counter-productive to IM success. I’ve read about it often before but has not registered in my mind, obviously!

So, thanks for pointing that out to me. I think sometimes I need a kick in the ….to drum it into my thick skull. lol. It’s that important. But you have been kind to me in using such gentle words.

Basically, I think this stems from a latent fear of failure. And these 2 ghosts continue to haunt me when it comes to content creation. So, if I am going to have any chance at all in making this work, I will have to change my mindset NOW.

I’m going to post it on my lap-top 2 rules:

    1. Keep it simple. ( Be smart, but not too smart)

    2. Just give the Best I can. (There’s nothing perfect in this world; never has been and never will be.)

What you have written is like a breath of fresh air to me as far as product selection is concerned. If I am sold, then the product is good to go. Simple. This way, I won’t be bogged down by gravity.

Thanks again, Jackie. This means a lot to me.

No problem Greg, glad I could help.

I think “analysis paralysis” is probably the cause of 90% of failure for beginners in IM. So count yourself ahead of the curve figuring it out now. :)

    Hi Jackie and Andrea,

One of my entire campaigns was for a clickbank product which it appears is no longer on clickbank. I just happened to go to one of my lenses and checked the hyperlink, then went to clickbank and it isn’t there anymore.

What a mess! I found another product that will work in it’s place, is there any fast way to change all the links in all lens/articles/blogs, etc.

Probably a silly question, just hoping to save some time.

    Thanks,
    Carole

  • 30 Jackie and Andrea // Jul 23, 2009 at 8:52 am

IF you used a redirect you can just go in and change the address it’s pointing to. That’s one good thing about using a redirect.

If you didn’t, then you just have to go in and do it by hand.

    Hi ladies,
I just ralized I posted my earlier comment in the wrong lesson. Oops, sorry.
I went to check my hoplink by “buying” the item and at the bottom of the page it says my affiliate link is a number. Does that mean my hoplink is working?
    thanks

  • 34 Jackie and Andrea // Sep 23, 2009 at 10:20 pm

    Hi Sue -

If your CB username is that number, then yes.

It should show whatever you login to CB with.

Could be that your computer is cookied with someone else’s link (if it’s not your ID on the order page).

You might try opening your page/link in a different browser too.

    Hope this helps :)

    Hi Jackie and Andrea,
I got your response yesterday evening and I think I am totally confused about clickbank. I signed up with clikcbank the other day but how do I know if the application went through? Is there a way to tell?

In your response you menrtioned about logginnng in to CB. I didn’t know you were supposed to login to CB. Are you supposed to loging when you make your hoplink?

If I wnated to try to open my page in a different browser, how would I do that? I have interent explorer has my browser.

I don’t know if you can answer this, how could my computer be cookied with someone elses link?

I hope this makes sense. I am just not sure if I made a mess out of trying to signup with CB. I am not going to get too far without a product to prmote.

    Thanks for your help.

  • 36 Jackie and Andrea // Sep 24, 2009 at 6:46 pm

You don’t so much “apply” to clickbank as you create an account. Once you have created an account you can log in and start creating hoplinks.

You must be logged in to clickbank to create hoplinks ~ or else how would they know the link belongs to you? ;)

If you only have one browser downloaded you can’t really do it. Most people have both firefox and internet explorer.

Your computer could be cookied to someone else’s link if you clicked on someone’s affiliate link to go look at the product before you made your own and clicked on it.

To sign up at clickbank you should have created a username and a password. Your username is also your affiliate id ~ it’s what you put in the box that pops up when you click “create a hoplink”. That’s what makes the link individually yours.

So if you haven’t done that, let us know and we’ll help you get through it.

  • 37 Sue Bledsoe // Sep 24, 2009 at 8:52 pm

    Hi ladies,
I got your resposne, but I am still confused. When I signed up the other day at CB I clicked on the sin uo button and filled in my name and address etc but I didn’t make a password. I wasn’t even asked to make one. So how do I go about getting a passoword? When I signed up I did make a CB id though.

I think when I tried to make a hoplink I did it wrong. I clicked on the buy product button and wen in the marketplace and selected my product and clicked create a hoplink.

Once I get the password mystery solved, then would I go to the CB marketplace and click on log in or something like that and then create my hoplink?

    Thanks for your help.
    sue

  • 38 Jackie and Andrea // Sep 24, 2009 at 9:11 pm

    I’m sorry.

You don’t need to log in to create a hoplink. You do need to login to check your stats, see how much you’ve made etc.

You just enter the cb id you created when you click create “hoplink”.

Tomorrow I’ll create a video on how to create a hoplink ~ but if your account isn’t set up correctly it’s not going to work.

It’s been a long time since I created my cb account ~ did you get a password or something in the mail?

Go ahead and click login and click “lost password” or something and they will send you a new one if you have an account set up.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Sue -

CB has it’s funny quirks - just like most sites do :)

Make sure you were signing up as an affiliate.

Next you would have received an email asking you to verify your email address by clicking a link.

On that email there was a ‘confirmation code’ - which it turns out = your password.

    Silly but true.

See if you can find that email, k?

    Andrea

  • 41 Sue Bledsoe // Sep 25, 2009 at 7:06 pm

    Hi ladies,
I want to thank you so much for helping me with my CB problem. This is so embarrassing but when I tried to signup I didn’t hit the submit button. I guess hitting the submit button would have helped, lol. I just hit me today that was I did wrong. The good news is I did finally signup with CB and made sure to hit the submit button. For the time being I am going to keep my email from CB with my password. Now that I am signed up I also created my hoplink. When i checked to see on the “buy” page there is a number as my id. But I checked the help center at CB and found out that my link is encrypted. There is a place to decode your link and make sure it is yours.

I would say this is rather exciting news. Now that I have that done now I can go about reserving URLs. I already have a gmail, paypal and Squidoo account setup.

Just a quick question for now. I know in lesson 13 it talks about reserving URLs for each of your keywords but since I just want to a test lens for now, should I go ahead and reserve all of my URLs for each keyword or just for one keyword for the test lens?

    thanks
    sue

  • 42 Jackie and Andrea // Sep 25, 2009 at 8:07 pm

Congrats on getting your CB account set up. It’s crazy what little things can get in the way lol.

If you are doing a test lens just grab the url you are going to use for your lens. If you want to expand the campaign later you can grab more later.

    Have a great weekend!

    Hi ladies
Today I have got two hoplinks for my niches.Should I go for more ? Do I have to get 6 more hoplinks?

  • 44 Jackie and Andrea // Oct 21, 2009 at 5:16 am

    Hi George -

For each niche topic, you really only need one product at any given time.

You’re driving traffic to a single offer via several ‘doorways’. The main doorways in this case are your Squidoo lenses.

It’s good to know you have back-up options for your affiliate offer, but no need to gather a bunch up at this point.

Sounds like you’re ready to move ahead!

    Cool :)

hi Jackie and Andrea, is ok to create a text by looking at the sellers own texts and try to chang e the words and phrases around plus supplying my own ideas or research to create this text? thank you. love your courses.

  • 46 Jackie and Andrea // Nov 14, 2009 at 10:09 pm

If you are talking about the sales page ~ it may be better to come up with your own ideas. You don’t want your page to be a sales page ~ you want it to create interest so they will click through. Your job is not to sell the product, just to tell a story, create trust, and get them to click through.

So speak conversationally, talk on your page as you would if you were talking to a friend.

I am not sure what a text document is?

  • 48 Jackie and Andrea // Dec 5, 2009 at 3:30 pm

It’s a document written in notepad or another similar text program. If you go to start –> accessories –> notepad.
Or you can go to your desktop and right click ~ choose new and you’ll see text document as one of the options ~ click it and it will open the page for you to start typing in. :)

What content do we need to put in this document. What type of document is it?

  • 50 Jackie and Andrea // Dec 5, 2009 at 4:06 pm

It’s like a blank piece of paper where you can keep track of stuff. I like to keep my hoplinks and any other information that is pertinent to the campaing in this document so I can easily access my information later.

    Two Questions.

I felt I needed to buy the product I was promoting to properly promote it I bought it through my hoplink at clickbank It did not properly download so I put in a ticket on the product’s site an autoresponser told me someone would respond to be soon. I have not heard anything and it has been one week.

    1. Can I report this to clickbank? If so how?

Another product I would like to promote for my new campaign has an affilate section that only provides me with a link to the clickbank home page to sign up.

I do I create an affiliate link to a product from the clickbank site?

  • 52 Jackie and Andrea // Dec 12, 2009 at 1:12 pm

    Hi Melvin -

Yes you should take it up with CB - if nothing else, there is a 60-day money back guarantee that you can use if you need to.

    Order help:
    http://www.clickbank.com/orderDetail.htm?clear=true

And you can search the marketplace for the other:
    http://www.clickbank.com/marketplace.htm

    Hope this helps!

Generally, there’s a page on the product site that will give you the link format. You just pop your CB username into it.

If you want to shoot me the product link - I’ll take a look for you.

    Hi Melvin -

Can’t find it and when I went to one of their pages looking for affiliate info, it said the site had been hacked. I’d steer clear.

    Hi Andrea,

In #21 above, Barbara asked you:
“You mentioned in the lesson that you want to record the hoplink info so later on you’ll know what product your commission was from —How will I be able to see the seller’s name as you mentioned? Or did I miss something? ”

    You answered:
“That’s a new format CB is using to cloak the links. So now you can get it by doing this
Right click on the “view pitch page” link and ‘copy link location’
Then paste it into your records with your hoplink. The pitch page link will show ZZZZZ where your username goes. The next word is the seller’s ID.”

My question (and I know its probably right in front of me) is where do I find “view pitch page” link and do we put our user name in where the ZZZZZ is.

    Thanks
    Art

    Hi girls,

    Thanks

    Hi Art -

    Sorry about that…

CB has changed things around again (just a bit).

Find your CB product by searching it in the market place and right click on the title.

That’ll get you the ZZZZZ link.

    Hello ladies,
Just a quick question. What is the proper amount of lenses per campaign? Is ten pushing it?

    Thank you,
    Jerry

10 would be a lot for me, but it really depends on what you can realistically do all the work for. If you can do all the steps for 10 lenses and you feel good about it ~ then go for it. If you can’t get all the steps done for each lens it’s not worth wasting the time on so many.
