    Hey Steven,

Glad you think so. If there’s any questions feel free to ask.

What is a campaign? A topic for a lense?

  • 4 Jackie and Andrea // Dec 13, 2008 at 11:10 pm

A campaign is several lenses, one core topic.

Nick’s series of lenses in “A Conversation with Nick” - is a great example of this.

  • 5 Dawn Rega Solar // Dec 13, 2008 at 11:37 pm

Why a campaign? Why not each lense just be on different topics?

  • 6 Jackie and Andrea // Dec 14, 2008 at 8:47 am

    Hi Dawn -

You can start that way if you want to :)

Do you have PotPieGirl’s ebook? That’s our manual for this learnit module.

I really was lost on how to even begin a campaign until I read one week marketing and especially a conversation with nick. It gave me tons of ideas. And now with this keyword researching tool that Jackie & Andrea are talking about, I can look even deeper in many campaigns.

    Thanks, this is great

    Hi Jackie, Andrea,

I had a pretty simple question.

I’ve already purchased OWM from PotPieGirl.

With the subscription program, does the weekly & annual subscription provide more details (i.e. step-by-step) on how to implement OWM?

Also, with the one-on-one coaching, what does that service provide?

I was thinking on getting the annual subscription but I just had those questions.

    Many thanks,
    Pat

  • 9 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 1, 2009 at 12:48 pm

    Hi Pat -

Yep I’d go with annual to start - all the content at once so you can move at your own pace.

Very ‘do this first’ … ‘okay now go here and do that (and here’s why)’.

Once you have the lesson access you can decide if you want to add in private coaching - that’s personal attention to your specific campaigns so your niches aren’t exposed.

You can email us with further questions here:

    Sounds good, many thanks Andrea.

I’ll get the annual membership today.

    Cheers,
    Pat

Have fun and make sure you add some (5 to 10) new ideas from the keyword tool and add it to your Campaign idea list! (you wrote this)

    1. I have a Campaign now called xxxx, I have a Squidoo site called xxxx, and I have a gmail account called xxxx. If I add 25 new ideas from the keyword tool, should I build 25 lens for my Campaign?

    2. If I build 25 lens for my Campaign, and I have 76 products that I want to promote/sell, am I suppose to link all 25 lens to each of the 76 products, which would mean I would have a total of 1,900 articles/lens out in the market at the same time.

Am I understanding this right? Is this the reason I need new ideas from keyword research.

  • 14 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 7, 2009 at 8:55 am

    Hi Ty -

These new idea exercises are intended to reveal niches you may not have thought of yet.

As you follow along with the next 4 or 5 lessons, you will find that the next step is to measure the competition and viability of your niche ideas and whittle the list down to one campaign to begin with.

That campaign will have a single umbrella idea and several keywords that are tightly related - 5-6 lenses is plenty. Later you will know whether more are wanted or not. But fwiw - your numbers are WAY higher than necessary :)

Right now all we’re doing is brainstorming “possible” niche topics, k?

Take some time and see what pops up for you niche-wize over the next few days.

    You’re doing great!
    Andrea

  • 15 TY EVANS // Feb 7, 2009 at 9:18 am

OK, I feel a little better knowing that I really don’t need 25 lens to make a Campaign work.

Take some time and see what pops up for you niche-wize over the next few days. ( I don’t understand what that means. Is something suppose to pop up on my Squidoo account)

    I am sorry I don’t have a clue what I am doing

  • 16 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 7, 2009 at 9:23 am

    Good Morning Ty,

A campaign is 5-6 lenses about one topic. The point of one week marketing is to create one campaign (and promote it) each week.

So the point of the exercise in this post is to help you come up with ideas so you will have plenty of ideas to build campaigns on once you have finished the first one.

Andrea just means to do the exercise and think of some new campaign ideas. Write them down, keep track of them so you will have them to draw from when you are ready to start a new campaign.

And yes, it’s confusing when you first start, but you will get the hang of it and soon you will be creating a campaign a week, and need some more ideas. :)

You will focus probably 1 product for each campaign.

We did this post because a lot of people have trouble coming up with ideas for campaigns, so go through and complete the assignment and just write them down for later use.

    Jackie

  • 17 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 7, 2009 at 9:24 am

I mean - spend some thinking time and see what new ideas come to you.

It’s kind of tricky at first sometimes to even notice some of the most obvious things that are actually really good niches - read the next few lessons, make some lists and see what you come up with.

It’s a process - and yeah it’s the kind of thing you just don’t know until you know - grin - you know?

(lol - now I’m just being silly)

Go through the next few days of lessons and then let’s see how you’re doing, okay?

You really are doing great :)

I am so sorry, I am a analytical nightmare. If I don’t know how the spark gets to the spark plug in my car, I can’t drive it.

    Thanks for your pateince

  • 19 Rich Wright // Feb 16, 2009 at 2:28 pm

I’m not certain I’m grasping the concept here. Example, if I chose cameras as PRIMARY keyword, does that mean I can base other lens OFF of that keyword? Such as accessories, photo courses, etc.? Just not clear on this.

PotPieGirl recommends buying a domain for each campaign, which makes a lot of sense. You can then use that domain, even though you do not have a webpage yet, and somehow tie it to a clickbank “subject”? The fog is closing in again!
She also says a “.info” is good, and cheap. My question is does the info work as well as a “.com” domain?

Last question in this ten minute segment, I think you’ll likely tell me, but how do you “reserve” a url on Squidoo?

    Whew, wore myself out.

    Thanks

  • 20 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 16, 2009 at 2:36 pm

right now you are just gathering campaign ideas. Just get some ideas of things that will be of interest to you.

We will be going over how to use them and seeing if they will fit the proper criteria in the next few posts. :)

Getting a url for your campaign has nothing to do with not having a website, you do in fact have websites ~ they are your squidoo lenses.

We will also talk about this in an upcoming post on domain forwarding. :)

    Gotcha.

  • 22 Valerie Grass // Feb 19, 2009 at 10:15 pm

Ok I have a question similar to Pat Mason’s. If we already have gotten OWM from PotPieGirl, then what you guys offer is the same information or more information. I am confused here. Please advise…..Thanks!

  • 23 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 19, 2009 at 11:30 pm

    Hi Valerie -

These are lessons that follow OWM pretty closely - going into depth on the “how to put it in action”.

Think of it as doing OWM one small daily action step at a time.

So if you feel like you can implement the process already, you may find this overkill.

I would check the lessons that are available at the free level to see if you think our style and info we’ve put together is what you’re wanting or not.

    hth,
    Andrea

  • 24 Russell Hart // Feb 21, 2009 at 11:40 pm

As indicated in my email to you I’ve not got pics on the lessons up yet. But even so, up to this stage I’m still with you and on course with the early few lessons as they are pretty straight forward. And I do find this comments section very helpful. Just thought I’d let you know this.
    Regards
    RUSSELL

    Excellent Russell -

We’ll see what we can do to get you straightened out - must be a setting somewhere.

Very much appreciate the feedback on the lessons - it’s important to hear so we know we’re doing this in a way that makes it easy for all.

    Appreciate you!

  • 26 s mue // Mar 2, 2009 at 4:08 pm

I signed up for the free level, and got 1 lesson, “how to sign up for a gmail account”

Is that it for the free part?

  • 27 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 2, 2009 at 5:36 pm

    Hi there Sue -

There are about 6 or so lessons from the overall course that we picked out to give a sneak peek. You should see a link on the side menu that says “free” when you’re logged in - that should take you to all of them.

Do you already own PotPieGirl’s One Week Marketing system? That’s the text that we follow for this module of learnitstepbystep.com

    Thanks,
    Andrea
    (sorry about the double reply)

Hi, all! Jackie, Andrea, Ive seen an even amount of opinion during my “studying” of IM since 12/2008, about whether one should find products to promote first, then go grab keywords, or finding ideas/keywords then products. Some seem to say one will save you much frustration over the other/one will give you more grief than you need over the other. What’s your take? Hope all is well! Joel

  • 29 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 25, 2009 at 5:26 am

    Hiya Joel -

Here’s the thing - it’s easy to get lost in a sea of affiliate program hunting. It’s also easy (for me anyway) to get stuck in keyword research mode. Working on that … ;-p

But let’s look at what we have once we come unstuck from either of those.

    1. We have a whole lot of info about where people can buy ’stuff’. We’ve become excellent “sourcers”.

    2. We’ve gotten really practiced at locating many different little markets where people are actively looking to buy the something right now.

I suppose you could monetize #1 by becoming a personal shopper or a conduit for others who are looking for something to sell to their chosen niche. Sorta limits things, yeah?

But #2 is a priceless skill which, once developed, can not only help you find many hungry markets (then you give them what they want - so knowing how to do #1 *somewhat* is still important), it can also be developed into a product in its own right - just as Jackie and I did with the Niche-in-a-Box kits we put together a few weeks ago.

Just depends on your desired outcome.

I prefer - hungry market first - then get your self (or in this case your content/links) in their path with a solution to their hunger.

    Make sense?

    Andrea

  • 31 Barbara Paine // May 28, 2009 at 10:43 am

Just curious as I’m trying to do some short- and long-term planning … what would you say is the average amount of time a person will spend on creating a new campaign each week (I’m thinking how many hours each day).

I ask because I’m wondering what’s a reasonable amount of time to spend on producing a campaign and whether it’s possible to be producing more than one campaign at a time (like 2 or 3 per week).

And I’m looking for averages that assume I’ve already been through the process enough times to have a pretty good idea what I’m doing :)

Thanks for any info you can provide.

  • 32 Jackie and Andrea // May 28, 2009 at 11:27 am

    Hi Barbara,

It’s really impossible to tell. What takes me 5 minutes may take you 3 hours.

I’d suggest you make some decisions on the time you have to devote to this business, and then the appropriate action steps during that time.

As long as you are consistently moving forward you will be fine.

Question on cb-analytics - I go into the new products section and I can only get about 23 listings. I don’t see anyplace to go to the next page. Is it me, or is it like that for everyone? Is there a setting I can change?

    Thanks!

That is a listing of the products that came today ~ Go up to the top and change the date or month in the drop down menu to see more products.

Hi, Love the lessons that I can read and re-read until something clicks.
About using Google Adwords tool. You say “Open you handy dandy keyword tool. I usually use google adwords tool, which is free.”
I have Google on my machine, but if there is something called “adwords” on it, I don’t see it. Can you direct me here?

    Hello Jackie and Andrea.

John Yorke here from the UK.

Tell me if I have this right.

Keywords; are what people are using in the way of finding products that will help them resolve their problem.

Is that right, or am I reading it wrong.

    John

  • 38 Jackie and Andrea // Nov 16, 2009 at 6:51 am

    Hi there John -

    Yep, that’s exactly right.

keywords = the exact phrase(s) that people are entering to find the answers to their questions/problems in the search engines.

  • 42 Arthur Schuster // Jul 10, 2010 at 2:39 pm

    Hi Jackie & Andrea,

I had a hard time getting started with”learnitstepbystep” because of some questions re duplication of information with PPG. From what I understand when you perform a campaign you list it into a category, the topic (or Title) of your campaign is the product you chose to target in your campaign. The keyword is what draws the viewer to your site and hopefully clicks on the link to make a purchase.

Now saying all that what is the purpose of filling in the form;is it just for our own reference for future use or do we submitt the completed form for your comments? In other words do you check to see if the keyword fits within the product and and the category?

One other question… can we expect your help in installing Adobe Flash Player in our computer so that we can view the video series? If we can’t install the Flash Player are we still required to pay the $37 fee in order to get the same help when using the text version? I notice that there are video tutorials throughout other areas in the instructions where we are also required to have the Flash player, does that become an issue?

Thanks for your expertise, without it I would never atempt to do this on my own.

    Arthur

  • 43 Jackie and Andrea // Jul 10, 2010 at 2:59 pm

    Hi Arthur -

    Glad you’re finding your way!

Keyword lists are ongoing “idea hoppers” that we all keep. You’ll be surprised the things that can come up as niche ideas and if you don’t write them down quick, they’re often gone :)

AdobeFlash Player is a free download here (yes you need it in Internet Marketing in general):
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Uncheck that “Free McCaffe” box and click install - shouldn’t give you any problems.

I’m unclear what $37 fee you’re talking about?

    Hope that helps :)
