It’s something we hear from a lot of  people ~ how can I write this squidoo lens/blog post/article I’m not a writer!

Here’s a few tips to get things written, even if you aren’t a “writer”.

1. Forget everything your teacher ever taught you.

Yep. That’s the first thing you need to do, forget everything you were ever taught. Seems crazy, but it’s true. When you’re writing for the internet using your own personal voice is going to get you a lot farther than “proper” writing you learned in English class.

2. Tell a story.

A great way to create content is to tell stories. A lot of our blog posts come from conversations I’ve had or things I’ve done or seen happen. Then I just tell the story.  People can connect to a story. People will have experience what you’ve been through and like to hear how other people have solved the problem.

3. Use a template

There are tons of article templates out there you can use. This is simply an outline of an article where you just fill in the information on your particular topic. You can get a few of these templates from Ezine articles.

4. Think short

I know one misconception of articles is they have to be LOOOOnnng to be “good”. This isn’t the case at all.  You can create articles with as few as 250 words. That’s about the length oft his post so far.  You don’t have to write a novel or even 500 words to create a quality article to submit.

5.  Tips.

Yeah, this is one of the templates, but it is one of the absolute easiest ways to create an article, no matter what the topic.  All you have to do is think of a few tips related to your topic. Whether it’s how to keep ants out of your hummingbird feeder to how to get traffic to your website. 3 tips works for anything. Once you think of tips you just include a brief description of the tip and you are good to go.

Article writing can seem overwhelming, but I know I built it up in my head way more than it needed to be. Keep it conversational, tell your stories, give people great tips and you’ve got yourself an unlimited number of articles you can write.
