    Hi Jackie and ANdrea

I am lost here. I downloaded my three themes, and unzipped them, but now how do I tell wordpress to select one of them. Do I need to do taht before the privacy policy?

    Thanks
    Andrea

    Hi Andrea -

You can do the privacy policy anytime - it’s not tied to the theme.

To install your themes, you need to ftp them to your server. Lessons 42 & 44 are about getting your themes installed.

Privacy policy turned out to be like a blog post, not where I want it at all. I did do it as a page. How can I move it?

  • 6 Jackie and Andrea // Jul 12, 2009 at 4:31 pm

It will look like a blog post ~ but will be on a separate page if you created a new page for it.

Where it shows up on your blog (top nav bar, sidebar link etc) will depend on the theme you’ve chosen.

If you didn’t click “create new” under the page tab, just copy and paste it over there and then delete the post.

Wherever you are getting your banner from should give you the code. Once you get the code, highlight and copy it. Then go into edit mode of a text module or any other module that accepts html and paste it in.

Sorry ~ I didn’t look where I was. It depends where you are putting it. If it’s in the sidebar grab the code from wherever you are getting it from ~ then go to widgets ~ and choose a text widget. Paste your code in the text widget, and then save.

If it’s in a post then click the html button on your text editor and paste the code wherever you want it to show up at.

If you want it somewhere else, let me know where it’s at and I’ll see if I can help you get it there.

    Hi Mary Ann -

Well, if you’re in squidoo then the code goes into a text module.

This lesson reviews basic html linking:
    http://www.learnitstepbystep.com/20-the-ever-important-introduction-module.html

You would “add a lens” in squidoo - not “add a page”. This lesson is related to your Wordpress blog - have you built one?

    Hope this helps,

    Andrea

    Hi Andrea

The privacy policy page link does not work. Can you check it.

    Hi Andrea ~

I googled Privacy Policy Creator and here’s what I found: http://www.dmaresponsibility.org/PPG/#form

It’s a little more complicated than the other, but it is still pretty simple. Just fill in the blanks.

I used the Easy Privacy Policy plugin that PPG recommends in 6StepNicheSites. Does that accomplish the same thing as the above instructions?

    Thanks very much.

I haven’t used it before, but if it creates a privacy policy ~ it’s probably the same thing.

Ok, how do I know if the theme I chose will show the page where I put the Privacy Policy? I clicked on “visit site” and along the left side I see navigation, categories, archives, advertise, and that’s it. To the right of that it says “Not Found” I guess because there’s no content yet other than the policy. If the theme doesn’t show the page, how do I add a pages widget? Thanks!

  • 17 Jackie and Andrea // May 20, 2010 at 7:24 am

Go to the widgets section and drag the “pages” widget to the sidebar where you want it.

Check along your header ~ many themes will put pages across the top ~ you’ll probably see home/ and then whatever other pages you’ve created.
