    I’m getting balder!
The 3 themes I most wanted aren’t coming through/ One shows up on wp under themes, but when I click to preview I get a blank page. The other two don’t even show on WP. I have gone back to FTP and transferred again, they considered it a rewrite, so ftp shows/thinks they are there,
    now what?

    Oh Dear :-/

Well, did you try activating that one that doesn’t preview? sometimes that’ll work anyway.

Pick a popular theme from wordpress:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/

That says it’s 2.7 compatible and make sure it isn’t just crummy or outdated themes that you’re trying this with.

Being opensource - themes come in many qualities…

Oh and you can certainly feel free to overwrite any theme that’s not in use.

Sometimes with the themes and plugins there is a folder inside the folder. So you have to make sure you are at the inside folder when you upload it to your server.

Just click on the theme folder in the first left hand column, and then you’ll see just that theme folder show up in the second column on the left hand side. It will be the only thing in the second left hand column. Then it should show up when you upload. :) Can be very confusing.

    Hi Carolyn -

All of the files for one theme should have been contained in a folder.

You want to upload that folder (with all its contents coming along for the ride) to your wp-content -> themes folder.

    That help?

What do you mean ‘picking up’?

All the files were in a folder, I opened it to see.
by picking up I mean nothing is transfering to the word press site, evn tho it is on the right side in http://FTP. Something I am supposed to do to upload?

You say you have all the files onto the right side?

You should only move one whole folder ~ it should have everything inside it. You’re not moving all the files independently, just move the folder.

Are you sure you are in the themes folder for the correct url on the right hand side and putting the whole folder in the themes folder?

IF you have more than 1 domain in your hosting you need to make sure you are working in the right domain name.

Everything is gone! Everything I had in Blog form…POOF! the Fantastico wordpress page still lists my four installations, but all are gone. I get a 404 message for each of them
I am hoping you will tell me this happens and they will come back!

I’m not sure what the issue is ~ to tell you the truth without seeing it I’m not sure I can help you fix it.

We’ll see if Andrea can tell you off the top of her head what the problem might be.

What was the last thing you did in the dashboard?

Might have to get with your hosting tech support to see if they can tell and repair. At the least, there may be an auto backup that they can revert to.

It was the right thing to do. Hosting tech has back-up and all is fine now. They did not tell me what caused it, tho.
