I was reading Potpiegirl’s blog where she mentioned that sometimes you will get indexed and then will up falling out of the index (or whatever you call it). Anyway that appears to have happened to me, all my lenses indexed and now they are gone. I am going to go back and redo the steps suggested again but how about all the articles I just submitted to ezine articles? Will this also help to get me indexed again?

Every inbound link that you add will absolutely help.
Best thing to do is to keep moving forward - Goggle will settle back down and take you seriously… no worries.

Hi ladies
I need your advice.
All ezineArticle.co. articles are pending. I have have done a Hubpage. I have done all the posts and pinging. All keywords have been indexed by google.
Today I did a search for each of my keywords. None appear in the first 10 pages of listings.
The most shocking thing for me is that each of my keywords are now showing far FAR FAR more competitors than 30,000. Most are showing many millions of competitors.
It is possible that I cocked up on the competition research, but somehow I doubt it.
All of my key words are around the subject of becoming an entrepreneur/starting your own small business. The specific keywords are:
>deleted by admin (remember to protect your niches!)
Do you recommend that I start all over again?
If not, what do you recommend?
4 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 17, 2009 at 11:10 am
Hi Jay -
First - make certain you’re checking the competition by putting your phrase in Google search in “quotes” - even so, the numbers are on the high side like you say (but not millions!)
Another something to look at when you’re assessing competition - are the sites on the first page well established? It’s easier to get listed above sites that are not.
Having come this far, it’s nearly time to let this one simmer anyway, so yeah I’d let the ezinearticles publish, tie up any loose ends and let this campaign age a little.
And begin again
Andrea
PS. Remember that campaign specific questions fall into the realm of private coaching

Andrea, you ask above: …are the sites on the first page well established?
How does one tell?
6 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 19, 2009 at 7:46 pm
If you have the google toolbar you can check the PR of the site. Higher PR sites are generally more established.

Hi Andrea and Jackie
I have started indexing my lenses and am gettig a little traffic. Did the feedest and feedage thing and 3 step ads, however I am having a little difficulty with writers block unblockes and unique article database.
I am trying to get a link out to my lens from the articles. I highlight the keyword phrase in the article, then I clikc on the chain link at the top, the box pop up and I insert the squidoo lens url in the http: box, then I fill out the rest. However when I view the article I do not see any links.
What am I doing wrong here.
Thanks
Ingrid

Hey Ingrid,
I’m not sure what the deal is. I just tried it and it works fine. Are you sure you are hitting the insert button and not the ‘cancel’ button on the pop up form?
The links should show up in red on the site. are you sure you are clicking on the link and not the broken link icon? That could be a problem too, the pop up boxes are the same, but the broken link erases it.
Let me know.

Hey Jackie and Andrea
No problems to report. Just a thanks for helping me get to my first sale. It was a referral click through from EZA. As soon as the article was published — Bingo / Sale! Not much traffic yet, but it’s a start, so Thanks Again for all your support!!

Very cool Ed -
Yep - you’re building many small doorways that lead either to your affiliate program or to more of YOUR content so they can then be lead to your affiliate link.
However they get there is great!
Thank-you so much for sharing - fun stuff, huh??
Appreciate you,
Andrea

Hi Jackie and Andrea
I am not too sure about feedping. I enter the URL, and then select all. And then “ping only once” but I do it for each lens? Then it takes me to a screen where there is a text that says ” Feed Ping is the the original feed ping service. Were not glitzy splashy or extravagant. We do one thing and we do it well…… ”
I am not sure I am doing this correctly. If I click the back arrow goes to teh screen where I had filled up the URL and still has the information I typed in. Do I need to sign up for this service, as it has lots of URLS taht I di not enter myself.
Thanks
Andrea
12 Andrea Kalaydjian // Apr 16, 2009 at 12:32 am
One more question. How do i know my url has been ping correctly. Sometimes (it did it for the last two sites) it brings the screen saying each url if it was successful or not. But I cannot find my lens.
And it did not bring this page every time I did ping for other lenses.
So will my pages be pinged or not?
Thanks
Andrea

Hi Jackie and Andrea,
I am not getting any traffic. I have not finished the ezine articles. But to see if my lens appears in the first two pages of google, do I put the keyword in between quotes?
FOr the keywords I tried there are one no more than 5 lenses in squidoo if at all that. But still Google is not picking them up on the first two pages. I am not sure what Jennifer says with the conclusion, “CHoose the right keyword
Do I just need to create more links and wait and see?
Thanks
Andrea
14 Jackie and Andrea // Apr 16, 2009 at 4:03 am
Hi Andrea -
Feed ping has a tos check box there at the bottom - make sure you tick that and then all you can do is click submit. Also be sure to include the RSS feed address as well as the url.
I just tried it and it is seeming very slow - could be the service is intermittent or glitchy - hard to say. I just left it alone and it eventually came back with ping confirmations list.
Ping services are not the same as directories, they just notify other sites of updates so there’s not really any place to go ‘look’ for your site.
This lesson is about “indexing” - not Google search position - have your links been indexed? But yeah - more backlinking is the most important thing you can do to improve Goolge position. And yes, it can take time to get there.
Earliest traffic may not be coming from Google - it can come internally from Squidoo or from the ad sites where you linked from and often comes initially from ezinearticles.
As far as ‘choose the right keyword’ - we can look at your list in coaching if you want to? Not sure which set you’re talking about here.

Hi. I’m not getting any traffic to my lenses. I’m thinking I recently changed the primary tags (yesterday) and I’m thinking maybe check again in another week? Also, how do I know the traffic I am getting is not from my own clicks as a result of doing edits to my lens?
16 Jackie and Andrea // May 10, 2009 at 5:24 pm
Have you finished your ezinearticles and are they published yet?
Usually that’s where you will get your first traffic from while Google finds your links and you move higher in the search results.
It just takes some time for traffic to come, that’s why you let things simmer and move on to the next campaign.
Jackie
17 Shalisha Alston // May 10, 2009 at 6:39 pm
No. I haven’t been able to submit to Ezine because I’m waiting for them to approve me for more submissions. I’m basic plus and I’ve submitted so many articles, I had to apply for another extension for submission of artilces. I’ve been publishing on Hubpages and Goarticles.
18 Jackie and Andrea // May 10, 2009 at 6:43 pm
so you have applied right? Ok, it’s just a matter of time then. As soon as you have your next level at EZA make sure to submit and until then keep moving forward with the steps of OWM.
This is a long term strategy, and sometimes it takes some time to get traffic.

Okay. I’m working on my blog. Since wordpress.org is free and it allows backlinks (unlike wordpress.com) is it alright if I use it? I don’t like blogger blog.
20 Jackie and Andrea // May 10, 2009 at 8:38 pm
You might want to put these blog questions on the post about blogs. This is a little more advanced than this post.

Okay. Where is that blog so I can post it there?

I think she meant the post/lesson about blogs.
Try this one:

Ok, I know I have asked this before but it is still puzzling me. If I check to see if my lenses are indexed with site:squidoo etc., 4 out of 6 show up. If I put only the url in and not site: etc. then the lenses show up.
The only difference is if I do it by site: then it goes to the search page
If I put the url in, then it actually goes to the lens.
ARE ALL MY LENSES INDEXED EVEN IF THEY SHOW UP DIFFERENTLY?
24 Jackie and Andrea // May 26, 2009 at 9:10 pm
if you see your actual site in the listing your site is indexed.
Just make sure it’s your actual lens, and not your lens in another site ~ like zimbio or the 3stepads etc.
That’s the benefit of using site:squidoo.com/yourlensname ~ it will only bring back your actual lens and not other sites that just have the domain name in them somewhere ~ like a link back to your site.
You have to put your url in the SEARCH BOX on google ~ not in the address bar at the top of the page.
You are searching Google’s index to see if the page appears. It will always show up if you put it in the address bar at the top. Whatever search you are doing, it should show up in a search result.
Jackie
25 Jackie and Andrea // May 26, 2009 at 9:20 pm
Here’s the difference ~ the first image is a search I did for the url in google ~ it shows everything I have done that has the url in it.
http://screencast.com/t/37xqSrWqZR0
This image is a search done with the site: qualifier. It just looks for that specific site:
http://screencast.com/t/37xqSrWqZR0
It’s much easier to just use the site:squidoo.com/lensurl to see if your lenses have been indexed.
AND with that said ~ if you have some lenses indexed then move on and keep going. They will all get indexed eventually. It’s silly to keep watching them when you could be building links and then on to build another campaign.
Jackie
26 Carole Rowland // May 26, 2009 at 9:36 pm
Hi Jackie,
I understand what you are saying. So I put the url in google search, not at the top, and it goes directly to my lens. But if I put site:etc it does not come up and is not listed. My other lenses that I search for with site: actually come up in the listing, but the search with the actual url in the search box goes directly to my lens. I checked the url in the top of the page and it is my squidoo url.
So, am I endexed?
27 Carole Rowland // May 26, 2009 at 10:08 pm
I clicked on both screencast and they look the same, maybe it’s late and I am not seeing the difference.
I have moved on, just keep going back and checking on the indexing. I have submitted by articles to EZA, Zimbio and Hubpages. Will work on GoArticles, Scribd and Weebly manana.
Thanks for everything
28 Jackie and Andrea // May 27, 2009 at 2:59 am
Do Not keep checking indexing - it’s the backlinks that you’re not building that will get your pages onto the first page of Google.
Every second that you check for indexing is an opportunity lost to actually get your pages ranked and stable in Google.
Google will do its job IF you do yours.
Andrea
29 Carole Rowland // May 27, 2009 at 12:29 pm
I have gone back to resubmit my RSS to Feedage and Feedest. When I go to myfeeds on feedage, it shows all 6, however it doesn’t update to todays date, it only shows the original date I submitted. does that mean anything?
30 Jackie and Andrea // May 27, 2009 at 12:31 pm
Carole ~
Why are you doing this? Just move on please. Your lenses will all be indexed, I promise. Just keep moving forward.
The links you build with the next steps will help them be found. If you have finished all the steps for the OWM campaign, please move on to the next campaign.

Hi
I’m doing some more lenses & have a some questions. I’m using a hypothetical URL in these queries.
If my URL is http://www.squidoo.com/quickly_training_dogs & this is what I’ve reserved (the dashes are there as someone else has these keywords without spaces or dashes already), in my lens can I put the 3 words in caps in my headline? and can I put add-on words without upsetting my keyword structure? i.e. QUICKLY_TRAINING_DOGS: and cats and canaries.
Further, in my lens module text, when I put in my 3 keywords in general text and also as links back to my promoted product, do I have to put in the dashes?
I trust this all makes sense to you.
Regards
RUSSELL
32 Russell Hart // Aug 3, 2009 at 7:10 pm
I just noticed that the dashes didn’t show up in the example URL re DOGS I just sent to you.
Don’t know why - the dashes are there, just as in my example where I used CAPS.
Regards again
RUSSELL
33 Russell Hart // Aug 3, 2009 at 7:26 pm
Sorry, me again!
I should have added, can I use CAPS for the keywords in my Module Headlines, and do I have to put in the dashes for these?
And will Google recognise my 3 keywords if & when used without dashes, just normal spacing?
That really covers my queries!!!
RUSSELL
34 Jackie and Andrea // Aug 3, 2009 at 7:37 pm
Russell,
When you use caps online it is generally seen as shouting ~ so I would NOT use caps in your titles ~ just capitalize the first letter of each word.
You should stick with your main keyword ~ you want to stick with a specific tightly focused niche. You wouldn’t want to include cats and canaries in a dog lens ~ too broad.
However ~ if your lens was about making money training dogs you could certainly talk about quickly training dogs for fun and profit ~ as long as your keywords stay in the same order you can add things on the beginning or the end.
You do not need to use dashes in your content~ your kw doesn’t have dashes in it, just your url.
Hope that helps.
Jackie

Hi Jackie & Andrea,
Just did the feedping for all my keywords. Two questions.
1. The “ping action” showed most of the connections failed (like 9 out of 10).
2. I simply used my keywords as my Blog/Site name, not bothering with full name I used on Squidoo. I didn’t think this would be a problem, but just thought I’d check.
Are either of these a problem?
Thanks.
Laura
PS, Just got indexed and published with EZAs today (took like five days), so will let lenses simmer a bit before I bother with traffic issues.
37 Laura Mendelsohn // Jan 17, 2010 at 10:49 am
Hi Jackie & Andrea,
As of five minutes ago, I am on page one of Google search for one of my keywords thanks to Ezinearticles .
I checked on the other kw that got referral traffic from EZA, but could not find on Google right now. However, it must have been on page one at some time b/c it had referral traffic too.
All referrals to my lenses clicked through to my affiliate links, so that is great too!!
This stuff rocks!
Thanks so much for your patient and expert guidance.

Hi Jackie & Andrea,
I guess it does not matter if the feedping.com gave back mostly error messages?
The report page for me said the majority of the pings failed.
Is this a problem?
I am so innocent and inexperienced I thought I would ask to be sure.
Thanks!
Laura
40 Jackie and Andrea // Jan 17, 2010 at 4:30 pm
There’s really nothing you can do about it. You can try to ping your lenses at pingoat.com or pingomatic.com if you want but I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
