How many articles can you submit to GoArticles?
2 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 17, 2009 at 4:45 pm
I personally don’t use them, I imagine you can submit as many as you want.
Jackie

Will I have just one Hubpages account for all my campaigns and also will I be submitting an article for each lens or just one per campaign?
4 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 25, 2009 at 6:21 pm
You will submit an ezinearticle for each lens. And you can have just one hubpages account~ I don’t make separate ones for each campaign.
Jackie
5 Judith Turner // Feb 25, 2009 at 7:14 pm
Do we build a separate hub page for each lens or just one hub page per campaign?
6 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 25, 2009 at 7:22 pm
It’s up to you. Hubpages is pretty strict about not promoting stuff on their site. So if you can eloquently weave your keywords into quality content go for it and make one ~ otherwise make a couple and use a couple different keywords in each one.

Thanks Jackie :-).
8 Judith Turner // Mar 3, 2009 at 2:14 am
I am working on my first hubpage right now and am a bit confused. I can have 2 links within the article right? I also see that I can add link capsules so should I add the links within the article, in the link capsules or both?
9 Judith Turner // Mar 3, 2009 at 2:16 am
One more question, I am looking all over my blogger blog but don’t see a feed is there one available that I should use on my hubpages?
10 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 3, 2009 at 7:45 am
Judith ~
It is my understanding you can only have 2 links to the same place throughout your entire hub. That includes an RSS feed. So if you are linking to your lenses then you could use your RSS feed from blogger.
IF you are using firefox there is an orange button in the address bar where you can grab the RSS feed from blogger.
If you aren’t using firefox ~ why not?
But you can go into the layout area of your blogger blog and add an RSS gadget. It will give you a link on your blog to grab the RSS feed.
Jackie
11 Judith Turner // Mar 3, 2009 at 2:36 pm
Oh okay I did find my blogger blog rss feed so I need to take out the links within my article then right?
12 Judith Turner // Mar 3, 2009 at 2:42 pm
One last question, would it be better to submit the rss feed to my lenses instead of to my blogger blog?
13 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 3, 2009 at 2:55 pm
Judith,
I would link back to your lenses within the hub ~ make sure to use your keywords for the anchor text. So if your lens is on dog training make sure you make the words dog training the ones that people click on to leave.
Then go ahead and use your RSS feed from your blogger blog. You have linked back to your lenses from the posts on your blog too right?
That way if they click on your blog from the RSS feed they will have more chances to get to your lenses to click your affiliate link.
If that doesn’t make sense ask more questions so I can clarify ok?
Jackie
14 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 3, 2009 at 2:56 pm
The point of making hubs etc is to link back to your lenses using your keywords as anchor text ~ the RSS feeds to other places is just a little bonus.
Make sure you are using your content to link back to your lenses.
Jackie
15 Judith Turner // Mar 3, 2009 at 3:06 pm
OK so I misunderstood the first time. If I include a my rss feed to my blogger blog then I can include one more link within the body of the article to make that a total of 2? And I need to decide which of my lenses in that campaign that I would like to link to correct?
16 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 3, 2009 at 3:51 pm
you can have 2 links in the body ~ and then you can have the rss as well. You just can’t have more than 2 links to the same place.
So if you had 2 links in the body to your lenses you couldn’t use your lens RSS.
See what I’m saying. I don’t use hubpages that often so you might check in their Terms of service. I’m sure they explain it more clearly.

17 Judith Turner // Mar 3, 2009 at 4:13 pm
OK finally I get it :-). Sorry about that.
18 Rebecca Fleckenstein // Mar 8, 2009 at 5:29 pm
When we are submitting articles to these sites should we submit the same articles or try to make these articles a little different each time?
19 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 8, 2009 at 8:29 pm
You should be submitting new/unique content to all these places ~ with the exception of Zimbio, because they pull your content from your RSS feed.

Good morning ladies
I have received an email from adsense saying that although I have been approved they noticed that the Adsense code has not been implemented into my hub page.
The email provided instructions to follow.
I have 2 questions:
1. Do I choose Adsense for content, Adsense for Search, or Adsense for feeds?
2. I have copied the code provided and have gone to Hub pages. However I do not see where on hub pages to paste the adsense code. Can you advise?
Thanks
21 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 25, 2009 at 5:52 am
Hi Jay -
When adding to articles (typically on your own websites - we’ll get to that - grin) we use the code.
Hubpages is a little different though.
Login to hubpages and go to the “My account” tab.
Then on the right sidebar, you’ll see a link that says “affiliate settings” - click that.
That brings you to a list where you can fill in your personal codes for various programs so that your hubs get coded and you profit share with hubpages.
The top one is asking for your Google publisher #. When you click the edit button next to it, you supply your account details and they go grab the correct number for you.
Andrea
22 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 25, 2009 at 5:55 am
Oh sorry -
Adsense for content = the ad code for the actual ads
That’s generally what you’ll be using when creating websites.
Andrea
23 Jay Hurwitz // Mar 25, 2009 at 6:25 am
Hi Andrea
Thanks for the fast turnaround as usual.
I have followed your instructions to enter the Adsense Code to Hub pages.
All went fine until I clicked on Link my accounts.
A message comes up saying this email does not appear to belong to adsense account.
It is absolutely the correct email address. I have triple checked it with my account details in Adsense.
I have entered it and reenterred it 6 times to no avail.
What do you suggest?
Jay
24 Ingrid Palmer // Mar 26, 2009 at 10:37 pm
Hi Andrea and Jackie.
When creating campaigns for different niches should you use a differfent lensmaster account for the different niches or you can just build all the lenses in the one lensmaster account
25 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 26, 2009 at 11:00 pm
I make a new one for each niche. Sometimes that can include more than one campaign though.
Basically, I look to keep stuff together that kinda goes together - so for instance if I were doing a series of craft niche campaigns, I might leave those all in one account.
But I wouldn’t put a campaign about kids toys and one about plumbing in the same place.

you know the table of contents does that too right?

Hi Jackie and Andrea
I have not done the hubpages yet. As I understand I need to do an article here for each lens also. How long does the article need to be? Do I need to include photos. Does the content need to be different from the ezinearticles or can be the same?
For Zimbio, I added my RSS and created articles. I added the firs RSS I got at squidoutil but, it only created 5 articles and not six. Why did it do that? Also in checking the articles, there is no link to my lens, or to anything else. Is this right? Can I have a link?
Thanks
Andrea
29 Jackie and Andrea // Apr 16, 2009 at 3:37 am
Hi Andrea -
Even though the big point here is links and even though there is not as much to worry over re. duplicate content as there used to be, you still want to use unique articles (not exactly the same words in exactly the same order) wherever possible.
Hubpages and anywhere you post, just make an article that you would want to read - if that includes pictures - then include pictures. Look around at other hubs and get a feel for the place.
For Zimbio - can you shoot your link to us through your coaching page? We’ll take a look.

Is it OK to actually mention the name of our affiliate product in these articles?
31 Jackie and Andrea // May 26, 2009 at 6:22 pm
Each third party site has its own rules about promotion. You’ll have to read the TOS for each site to know what they do and do not allow.

Andrea,
I had the same problem as Andrea in #28, only showing 5 of my lenses, I just went in and added my 6th. I’ll keep watching if there is a reason this happened or maybe they only take 5 at a time.

I have done the articles for Hubpage and Zimbio. Now I am trying to do Scribd.com that PPG uses. It says you can actually upload your existing article with links but it has to be a word document.
1-How do I add a picture to a work document?
2-I tried to do the hyperlink icon for adding a link but I am obviously not doing something right.
Can you help me with these 2 items, please.
Thanks

Sorry for the typo - WORD Document
35 Jackie and Andrea // May 27, 2009 at 11:25 am
Hi Carole -
Each program on your computer has a help file - they’re very handy for answering questions like this.
Also - Google is a huge resource … just type in what you want to know and you’ll usually find it:
I typed in “add image to word document” and found this on page 1:

I believe scribd no longer allows active links in documents. You can put a link to your lens in the description area for the document on scribd.

Hi Jackie and Andrea,
I am around no. 28 today working my way through the OWM. I had everyone of my lens(5) indexed and either no. 1 or 2 on the Google page when they disappeared-all except one. Now I know I am not supposed to obsess about this, but I have one lenses that is slowly working its way up the charts -no. 1 on its page at Google and 96,900 over all. Should I concentratee on that one? I haven’t had any articles published at Ezine articles yet and will try to get soemthing going tonight at 3steps ads and a few others this evening.
I have only had a total of 5 visitors to my lenses. I am adding something and pinging every day. Now one of the lenses that took over at one of my spots is really good and has a bit of flash on the product- which I have linked to but am not sure how to put on the page….but I think if I remember correctly, is on an upcoming lesson.
On page 48 of OWM, Jennifer adds more keywords, but I am not sure if she is adding to? adn she talks about scrapping lenses? at what point do you do that? OK
I am confused……………
What do I need to do?
Thanks,
Faye
40 Jackie and Andrea // May 31, 2009 at 8:09 pm
Hi Faye,
It looks to me like you haven’t done any of the promotion pieces of OWM ~ writing articles, adding posts to the free ad blogs, setting up a blogger blog ~
Those steps all create backlinks to your lenses. It is the backlinks that will get your lenses higher in the search engine results.
Adding content and pinging daily won’t help you get your site higher on google ~ it may help to get them indexed initially but it’s the rest of the promotion process that will get them back up when they take the big dip (which is perfectly normal and to be expected)
Don’t worry about adding any keywords until you’ve done the whole process. There’s never a good reason to scrap a lens ~ it can always be used to link to something else later.
Jackie
41 Faye herl // May 31, 2009 at 8:18 pm
Ok thanks! I just put an ad on 3stepads and waiting for 3 articles to get published at ezines. Working on scribd now.
42 Jackie and Andrea // May 31, 2009 at 8:22 pm
Sounds good. Just make sure you are getting your keywords in your anchor text for your links. Don’t forget to use unique article database too. It seems the other one is down at this time.
You also need to add your lens rss feeds to feedage and feedest ~ have you done that part as well?
You need to do an ezine article for each lens ~ make sure you use the keywords for each lens in the link back to the lens (from the bio box).
Jackie
43 Faye herl // May 31, 2009 at 8:31 pm
I’ve got the keywords in the anchor text . What is exactly the unique article database? I have the the rss and feedest . I will get all the ezine articles done tomorrow and hopefully things will start coming back.
Thanks!
Faye
44 Jackie and Andrea // May 31, 2009 at 9:49 pm
PPG recommended 3 free ad blogs in the book ~ unique article database was one of those three, along with 3 step ads.
Jackie
45 Faye herl // May 31, 2009 at 10:42 pm
ok. I see. I have done all of those now just finished the 3 step ads tonight and have just put in another article into ezine articles to get approved.
46 Faye herl // Jun 4, 2009 at 9:16 am
Hi Jackie and Andrea,
I have a question about keywords to make sure I am understanding this right. I went over my lenses’ stats and I only have one(everyone is indexed) that is showing any keywords that helped people find the lense. I am using the keyword that are the title of my page as a tag and then using the keywords I used for the other lenses. Is this not right? I know I just got my keyword/link issue just figured out yesterday but I thought I better check if I am supposed to be using other keywords as well.
Also, tried to get on Zimbio and they would recognize my RSS , so I sent an email to support.
Thanks,
Faye
47 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 4, 2009 at 9:28 am
Hi Faye -
The keywords that people are finding your lens with may not be what you intended at all - these are the NEW hints re. what people are looking for in Google or wherever they’ve come from.
The keywords you start with are just that - a start. You can add tags along the way and even a paragraph of content that goes with the new phrase can be a good idea.

I have written the little article for Hubpages. I have saved but not yet published. When I view it, the anchor text is very clearly html. Will that change when I publish? I was scared to publish cuz I didn’t want them to slap me.
Also I don’t know how to to the RSS feed in their stuff (I know how to generate it). The only place I see where they have the orange box is in comments and when I click on that, I seem to get a completely unrelated page.
50 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 16, 2009 at 9:00 pm
I think there is a preview button at hubpages ~ yes? Check out the links in the preview see how they look.
You have to publish the hub before you can grab the rss feed to it. There should be an RSS button in your address bar if you’re using firefox.
appears the RSS feed is the actual url of your hub followed by ?rss at the end, no spaces.
Here’s an example: http://hubpages.com/hub/Vegetable-Gardening-for-Beginners?rss
Jackie
51 Linda Servis // Jun 16, 2009 at 9:12 pm
But can’t I put anchor text in the body? It doesn’t seem to work. I thought you said you could do 2 in the body.
52 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 16, 2009 at 10:35 pm
yes you can put links in the body ~ there is really only body in a hub. You have to highlight the words (your anchor text) and use the anchor icon in the text editor to add the links.

I have tried to click on your link in #50 and it takes me to my igoogle page. I then copy/paste the url in my address bar and it still takes me to my igoogle.
????????????????????????

54 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 17, 2009 at 11:43 am
Hi Carole -
Your browser must be set to automatically subscribe to RSS in Google on your igoogle page.
What are you trying to do?
Andrea
55 Carole Rowland // Jun 17, 2009 at 11:49 am
I think this is where I messed up somehow because now I can’t get the RSS url’s anymore from the address bar.
The RSS icon is there, but when I click on it, it also takes me to igoogle instead of just giving me the RSS feed url.
I am sure my problem is me, just don’t know how to fix it.
Any suggestions?

56 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 17, 2009 at 12:20 pm
Yep - figured it out…
Try this in Firefox:
See Tools > Options > Applications: Web Feed
That list is in alphabetical order so scroll down. Click the “action” column next to Web Feed and you’ll get a drop down.
Click ‘preview in firefox’.
See if that works?
Andrea

58 Linda Servis // Jun 17, 2009 at 6:15 pm
Re item 51. I tried to put 2 links in the body. I have one Rss link and one regular link to my lenses. They wouldn’t publish it saying there were more than 3 links to the same page.
59 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 17, 2009 at 6:57 pm
Linda -
Does the RSS feed produce more than one clickable link? That could be what they’re talking about.
I would take that out and try again.
Andrea
60 Linda Servis // Jun 17, 2009 at 7:25 pm
Nope, didn’t work. I took out both links at the end and did 2 links in the body. Is that the best way given the situation?
61 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 17, 2009 at 7:58 pm
Did you add images or a video to your hub? Just wondering because one possibility is they are getting an influx of hubs on this topic with the new product out and they are being super tough on them.
Add more content without links and I think you’ll be ok.
You can also link to your different lenses in the campaign instead of all to the same lens, using your other keywords to point to different lenses instead of to the same one.
Jackie
62 Linda Servis // Jun 17, 2009 at 8:15 pm
I have been linking to different lenses. They just won’t let it pass. Is it better to have what I have in the body or in the links at the end.
I have only one photo up. I will add more content.
Thanks.
63 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 17, 2009 at 9:06 pm
It’s hard to say without seeing it. Did you look at the examples they sent in that email to see what it is they ARE looking for?
I don’t know what you mean by this: “Is it better to have what I have in the body or in the links at the end.”
The links should be worked in to your content. This is not like 3 step ads where you can just make a list of things at the bottom. You need to weave the keywords into your content and link out within the content.
Jackie
64 Linda Servis // Jun 17, 2009 at 9:49 pm
They are letting me have only two links total. I have linked out in the body, but I had to delete the links at the end. I was wondering if this is better than the other way around. Adding content is a good idea, they probably count words and are more liberal with a more wordy article.
65 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 18, 2009 at 8:53 am
Hi Linda -
Yes hubpages is more like squidoo than the ad sites - they want content first - links second.
Since these are (for your purpose) mostly about the backlinks - it doesn’t matter too much where they land.
Just follow their rules, get published and move on
Andrea
66 Linda Servis // Jun 18, 2009 at 7:09 pm
So I did the Zimbio with no trouble. I wrote an article for GoArticles, but I couldn’t see how to link it to anything. I tried to link out in the body, but it didn’t work. Help!
67 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 18, 2009 at 7:43 pm
on the submission page for go articles you’ll see the author bio box. That is your resource box area, and you can create html links within that box.
Jackie
68 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 18, 2009 at 7:45 pm
if you read in the author guidelines (it’s a tab at the top of the page) on their site you will see the code for html and the rules for using it at Go articles.
Jackie
69 Linda Servis // Jun 18, 2009 at 8:14 pm
I tried the resource box and it didn’t work, but will try again.
Very excited all lenses showing up on first 2 pages of google search–you are geniuses. No clicking going on tho.
I tried to link at Google–I can’t find anything that says “subscribe using google”
In Yahoo, it didn’t think my rss feed was valid (several times), should I just put in the url?
Manythanks.
70 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 18, 2009 at 8:45 pm
Did you publish the article first? It probably does not show up as a clickable link until it goes live.
sometimes things work at yahoo and sometimes they don’t ~ just roll with it.
re google. If you go to your igoogle home page ~ just go to google and log in, then click the igoogle link next to the search box.
On the far right hand side there is a link that says add stuff ~ click that, and at the bottom left hand side you’ll see a link that says add link or gadget. Click that and then add the rss feed url in the box that pops up and click add.
That should add it to your igoogle page.

Hi Jackie and Andrea,
I am thinking tommorrow I will do another article for EZA and check the stats and do the pinging in the next lesson. I figured doing another article can’t hurt. Iam thinking once i do that I let things “simmer” for a bit.
I figure that since it takes about a week to get articles approved at EZA, I would start another campaign. I don’t wan’t to do a blog quite yet til I see if my lense does anything.
I figured while I let things “simmer” i will start another campaign. I am thinking of doing something on a site that is like a membership site.
Any feedback would be helpful, i don’t want to go off into left field.
thanks

Hi Jakcie and Andrea,
I don’t know if you have gotten my previous question or not yet.
I have a few more related thoughts to the prior question. When I do a blog, I am only doing one for my marketing efforts? I wouldn’t think I would do one for each campaign. So, if make a blog I could talk about my first product and than talk anouther product in another niche thats not related. Like if a niche that was fish food and than wanted to talk about another niche like dog food.
This is just a random question, could i make blog that has nothing to do with marketing and just talk about something of interest to me?
Hope this makes sense.
thanks
sue
78 Jackie and Andrea // Dec 21, 2009 at 8:06 am
Hi Sue -
Backlinks (one way links) from both kinds of sites are good. But the stronger backlink is one with a targeted keyword from a niche focused site.
For indexing purposes, establishing a general personal blog that talks about misc stuff and links to different campaigns would be okay. But for ranking, topic related is better.
Andrea
79 Sue Bledsoe // Dec 21, 2009 at 8:18 pm
Hi Jackie and Andrea,
I did get your response earlier. I just want to make sure I understand about blogs. So, I should do a blog for each specific campaing. So, if my niche is dog food, i would do a blog on just dog food.
Another question i have is, how long do i wait to see if a test lense produces results before i do more lenses.
thanks

Hi Jackie and Andrea,
I am wondering if you plan on offering coaching again? I am also wondering, if you aren’t going to offer coaching again, if there is a “place” that offered coaching that isn’t exboritantly expensive?
I am at the point where I have more campaign specific questions. My article I submitted to EZA was rejected because they say there were grammar mistakes. And I guess when I tried to put links in there was a problem with that too. Maybe there is a “place” where I can go to have my articles edited?
It seems like I finally see some progress, and then hit a speed bump. VERY frustrated and want to make this work more than anything.
hope this isn’t too rambling.

I did get your email about the Squidoo Cash for Christmas. I do have a quick question, is the coaching provided through those packages just coaching for Squidoo or is it other areas as well, like making a blog? I just to make sure I understand the site correctly.
I understand the underlying concepts of marketing, like doing a Squidoo lense or finding a product to promote at CB or wherever. My two main stumbling blocks right now are trying to write an article and trying to make links. Does it matter if you aren’t good at wrting to be able to write articles?
I hope I am not being too bold, since I understand you have a lot too do with running the website and the coaching program. All I need help with right now is getting my article edited and critiqued and resubmitted. And I would like some feedback on some ideas I have for campaigns. I am thinking maybe there is a way to help me fix my article and I could ask a few questions. Maybe do something similiar to coaching but I don’t want to take your time away from the people in the program. Maybe, I could have like a short amount of time, like lets say fifteen minutes on a certain day, just for the time being,so I can get my campaing going, where I could have just a little extra help. This is just an idea I had.
I hope this makes sense.

Hi Jackie & Andrea,
Really like Hubpages. So easy.
To avoid sounding mercenary was to create a personal story of about 450 words with all my keywords in it. Also, I focused in on why I liked the subject, versus selling anything. I added a video too.
Got published and even had a quick hello from a “fan” w/in 8 hours!
I finally had my first site indexed after five days. I am certain the others will follow soon.
Just wanted to say thank you for all your patience and support.

Hi Laura -
Sounds like solid progress to me
Yeah don’t sweat the indexing - backlinking will take care of that.
Good job!

Hi Jackie & Andrea,
I just tried to monetize my Hubpage, but ran into a few glitches. Is this something you help us with or am I on my own on it?
I didn’t notice any upcoming lessons on it, either.
I am ok with Amazon, Google Adsense, but was having difficult with Kontera. I signed up as a publisher with them, and they gave me some code to add to my hubs.
Hubpages just wants an affiliate is so I looked at the code and found a number. I plugged that in. Hubpages ate it.
Maybe that is done.
Ebay seems to be more difficult than it is worth. It wants every website I own and will sell Ebay products from. I have one website right now but it is not for selling Ebay.
The way OWM works we are doing micro niche sites which are public property so was not sure how to work an Ebay affiliate membership into our marketing model.
Lastly Analytics just stumped me. When I attempt to go to a webpage called analytics it wants a membership from me, so I am off base with this one.
Anyway, if you can help fine. Otherwise I will try to find answers elsewhere later on.
Thanks.
Laura

Just remember the point of your hubs is to build links back to your lenses so they will move up in the search ranking. If you are going to spend time to monetize your hubs you will need to build links to them to get traffic ~ no traffic no money.
I would not worry about Kontera on Hubpages ~ they are annoying to most viewers.
Why are you trying to sign up with ebay? I believe hubpages, just like squidoo has ebay modules (or whatever they call them there) you can use. I wouldn’t waste the time right now on doing all that stuff. Ebay has also changed their affiliate structure so it is now paid by the click you send to ebay instead of a part commission from won auctions so you are going to have to send a LOT of traffic to ebay to make any money there ~ which probably won’t happen from these hubs that are really just linking sites.
You have to go through your google account to find analytics. Log in to google, and then click on “my account” top right, then click analytics.
Before you try to monetize everything it’s important to think about the purpose of the piece of real estate you’re working on. Here’s a post I wrote a while back that might be helpful.

Hi Jackie and Andrea,
It has been a few weeks since I have been on the learnit site, had a really bad cold, but am better now. I just have two things for now.
1. Jackie had sent me an email a few weeks ago, and I didn’t see an email address, so I am wondering if there is an address you can email me so that I can respond. I want to make sure i respond to the right “place” so i don’t make the same mistake twice. That was a case of me not thinking before i typed, my bad, sorry.
2. i had spent a little time, catching up where i left off and i have a question, would it be a good idea to finish doing the rest of my lenses before i do a blog, or just do a blog. All i have right now is just my “test lense.”
thanks
sue

It’s always a good idea to have a blog that you can link to your lenses from. Just make it a general blog so that it will encompass whatever topics you’re doing. I work mostly in physical products so “deal” blogs or “gift” blogs work really well for that.

Do I make a new Zimbio account for every campaign, or just one account for all future ones?

You say if you have a blog related to your topic you can add the RSS feed to the hubpages article. I do have a blog with several postings on my topic. However, the blog is designed to be multipurpose, so over time it will have many postings for many different campaigns. Would the RSS feed to hubpages still work? Would it draw from from the specific posting or from anything that’s added to the whole blog?

You only need one zimbio account.
You should only be adding the blog RSS if the blog is about the topic of the lens. Remember the RSS feed updates each time you add a new post the blog. If you are posting topics that are not relevant to the lens/hub they will still show up via your RSS feed.
