I’m about to sign up for a Ezinearticles account. Where it asks for my website url, do I put my affiliate url?
2 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 16, 2009 at 2:33 pm
No you put your website url. This can be a blogger blog address, not sure if they will take a squidoo lens url or not. Try it and see.
Jackie
3 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 16, 2009 at 2:34 pm
The only time you use your affiliate url is in your content when you’re trying to recommend something, otherwise it’s always your website when they ask for that.
4 Sheila Newman // Feb 24, 2009 at 3:26 pm
Does it normally take so long to have EzineArticles approved? It’s been a week now.

Hi Jackie, Andrea,
Quick question re: articles.
I’ve prepared 5 articles (one for each lens that I have) and I submitted them to ezinearticles.com
I have a link in the actual article content that goes out to my lens, and then a link in the resource box that goes to the affiliate site/product that I’m promoting.
Does that sound right or should I take the lens link out of the article and only have it in the resource box?
Many thanks,
Pat
6 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 25, 2009 at 8:33 am
Pat,
It’s best to keep your links out of the content. EZA is very picky about the links that go out in the content.
I’d say make sure you have both of your links in your resource box. One pointing to your lens and one pointing to your product’s sales page.
Jackie
7 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 25, 2009 at 8:49 am
Hi Sheila,
Sorry I missed ya last night. In the beginning yes, it is normal to wait that long. The more articles you write you will move up levels. You will actually have to ask for the move ~ it’s not hard at all.
As you move up you will get approved MUCH quicker. I’m at platinum and it usually takes less than 24 hours now.
Just be patient and work on some other things for links and traffic ~ zimbio, go articles, hubpages etc.

Hey Jackie,
Thanks for the tips, I made the changes.
Another quick question - if I want to submit articles to other ‘article sites’, do I need totally brand new articles or can I:
A. use the ones I already have without changing them
or
B. Modify them slightly and them submit them to new article sites
Many thanks, as usual.
Cheers,
Pat
9 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 25, 2009 at 9:08 am
Hey Pat,
I suggest you use a unique version of your article for EZA.
I would modify it and then submit to the rest with the same version.
Jackie

Will do, thanks Jackie.

Good morning ladies
On P40 of OWM, Jennifer speaks of other places to put ezine articles ,in addtition to EzineArticles.com.
Is it advisable, or not, to place the same articles placed with EzineArticles.com on these other sites?

Hi Jay,
That question is answered in comment number 9 above.

How do I put links in? I don’t know what to type.
16 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 16, 2009 at 7:27 pm
Carolyn,
You will use your keywords for your lens as your anchor text. Your links will go in your resource box.
You will use the 3 sentences talked about above to write your resource box.
Go to ezinearticles.com and look around a little bit. You will get a feeling for how it all works.

Hi Jackie and Andrea
I am wondering, in order to link to the squidoo lenses from ezine articles would one have to obtain a domain name first for it to be accepted?
18 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 24, 2009 at 11:05 am
No you just use the url from your lens. You can link to squidoo from EZA, just not directly to a sales page.
Jackie
19 Ingrid Palmer // Mar 24, 2009 at 6:27 pm
Thank you so much. Things are coming together nicely for me. Got my lens indexed when thru all the steps so far in OWM getting some traffic to the lenses. Need to ramp that up some. I noticed the product that I am selling I got repeat sales dont know if the lenses are contributing. I need to learn to know where my sales are coming from.
I had written articles published already on eza, that relates to my lenses. Can I edit these articles and add my squido lens url in my resource box. I think eza allows up to two urls in the resource box area?
20 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 24, 2009 at 6:47 pm
Hi Ingrid -
Tracking is tough with lenses. If you’re using a CB product you can ad an ID to the hoplinnk when you’re making it - and sometimes product affiliate programs have a back office for creating tracking links - all depends on the vendor.
Just remember that yes you can have two links in the bio, but not straight affiliate links … those have to be masked, top level domains (can’t even use subdomains).
Squidoo lenses are just fine to link to directly.
Sure updating your bio boxes with the keywords you used for the lenses linked to that lens would be a fine idea.
Every little thing you can do with backlinking like that is another vote that Google counts in your favor for those phrases.
Sounds like you’re doing great!

Hi ladies
It has been a while.
Been bombing along. About to start my third campaign.
However, just ran into a hitch on my second campaign - on celiac disease.
My clickbank link to the Paleo Cookbook no longer works. It brings up the message that page cant be found. The link had been working.
This is so for my Go Daddy url and my clickbank URL for the Paleo Cookbook product.
Yet when I go to clickbank for this product and click on the link, the product page comes up.
I have reconfirmed that I am using the correct clickbank url and that it is correctly forwarded by Go Daddy.
Can you advise?

Jay can you shoot me the links? I’ll look at them.

26 Ozer Tayiz // Apr 27, 2009 at 7:24 am
Do we use the ezinearticles to promote our lenses, or our affiliate program (using domain redirect)? What’s the main purpose of eza?
Do you suggest that we use domain names for every OWM campaign? Can’t we just use lenses and affiliate links?
27 Jackie and Andrea // Apr 27, 2009 at 7:57 am
The purpose of EZA is two fold. You want to build links back to your lenses to give them a boost in the search rankings (use your keyword as anchor text in the links back to your lenses)
and second it is to get you some quick traffic and hopefully a sale.
In your resource box you can tackle both objectives by having one of your two links point back to your lens (with keyword anchor text for the link) and the other link in your resource box pointing to your affiliate product. (you have to have a top level domain name to be able to do this per their rules)
If you are going to point directly to your affiliate sales page in EZA you have to have a redirect, they don’t allow affiliate links in your articles.

I am just starting on articles for EZA, downloaded your software, thanks.
I am still a little confused about what you are saying above about lings in the resource box.
I have a GoDaddy domain for my campaign - am I linking this direct to my product sales page or to my Lens?
Will the domain name be what is actually seen in the resource box?
The other link - can I add to the KW’s or Just the KW in my anchor text ? Then this link goes direct to my Lens?
30 Jackie and Andrea // May 25, 2009 at 2:21 pm
you will use your kw for both links ~ one will point to your product sales page ~ using your domain name. The other will point directly to your lens.
Stick with just your keywords.
Jackie
31 Carole Rowland // May 25, 2009 at 3:04 pm
Sorry, I am just not getting this. I understand the link to my lens or sales page, but I don’t understand how I do a link with KW with my domain name (which is forwarded to my product sales page)
I am sure I have probably seen and done this already somewhere, but I am hitting the wall!
HELP, please.
32 Jackie and Andrea // May 25, 2009 at 3:16 pm
Carole you do it just like any other link you create, except instead of using the url to your lens you use your domain name.
Here take a look at this ~ that’s exactly what you are going to do.

34 Carole Rowland // May 25, 2009 at 5:00 pm
I finished my first article, now I am questioning my title. Like the lens, it needs to include the KW for that lens, but does it have to be business front-party back? Or can you do a phrase which includes the KW?
35 Jackie and Andrea // May 25, 2009 at 5:08 pm
Ezinearticles recommends that you use the KW at the front also.
Andrea
36 Carole Rowland // May 25, 2009 at 7:27 pm
In EZA, what is the Teaser paragraph? It says you can use the first 2-3 lines of your article. Is this what people will read to determine if the want to click on your article?
37 Jackie and Andrea // May 25, 2009 at 7:34 pm
Yes.
38 Carole Rowland // May 25, 2009 at 8:21 pm
While our articles are waiting to be approved on EZA, is there a way to see them? In order to use them for other article directories?
39 Jackie and Andrea // May 25, 2009 at 8:42 pm
EZA is very particular about having unique content on their site ~ I wouldn’t use an exact copy of the EZA articles for another directory.
On your member page you should see all your articles ~ there is a “view” button. Not sure if you can view ones that are awaiting publication or not, but if you can that’s how.

As I am chugging away on EZine articles, I am realizing the product I picked to promote is a dud. I know I can change it easily thru GoDaddy, but in trying to find a better similar product, I really need to get into CJ or ShareASale. They all want websites and email addresses at that website. I don’t have those. How do I get in?
41 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 12, 2009 at 4:48 pm
Hey Linda,
What makes you think the product you’ve chosen is a dud? Have you thought about trying to monetize it with the modules available through Squidoo ~ they have modules for ebay, amazon and I believe overstock.com ~ where you can find just about anything. I’m pretty sure you can find just about anything you could want to sell in one of those three places, until you get a website up and running and can get accepted to one of the other affiliate networks.
If you need a website, you’ll have to create one I imagine ~ The second half of this course shows you how to create a website with wordpress.
Jackie
42 Linda Servis // Jun 12, 2009 at 5:54 pm

Hi, in regard to Ingrid’s problem (46) I used microsoft word for EZA and it worked fine!
Jackie & Andrea, I wanted you to know thatI’ve submitted 3 articles to EZA (1 for each of 3 lenses) 2 have have been approved and 1 is in for editing, and I’ve been given Expert Author status.
But I checked Google on my Indexing today.
1 lens is Indexed @ No: 2. 1 brought up a competitive site, but no sign of mine (how can a competitive lens apparently have the same URL as mine?). And I appeared to be un-Indexed. I’ve linked the EZA articles to my lenses. I’ve joined groups as per Lesson 26. So what do I do now?
Also I tried to join PPG’s group (as per page 63 of Conversation with Nick, but cannot find the link she says is “add an existing lens”. Can you help me here, too?
Thanks and regards

In relation to the above, I should have said …
And I appear to be ub-Indexed for No: 3.
RUSSELL
50 Jackie and Andrea // Jul 15, 2009 at 9:24 am
Hi Russell,
Re using word ~ if you use any ‘ or ” in your article it will give funny code where they should have been ~ so you really need to put word documents into a text format before you put them in EZA.
Not sure what you’re meaning by checking your indexing ~ and how you’re doing that.
Once your lenses have been indexed what you need to be looking for is where they show up in the search engine rankings ~ to do this you need to just put your keyword in google with no quotes.
The game now ~ is all about building links back to your lenses (like you did with the articles ~ you did use keywords as the anchor text of your links back to your site right?), and the blogger blogs, and the RSS feeds ~ all of that builds links back to your site.
You have to be logged into Squidoo to join groups I believe ~ make sure you are logged in and you should see the add existing lens link on the right hand side.
As for what to do next ~ what’s the next step in the book and these lessons?
Have you done a blogger blog for this campaign yet? If not, that’s probably next. If you’ve done that and the rest of the things you need to do for each campaign it’s just time to let it go and start on something new now.
The purpose of OWM is to build multiple campaigns consistently over time, so get everything done for this one and move on ~
Jackie

Many thanks for your comments.
I’ve just submitted one further Article to EZA, and yes, I have used keywords as anchor text for my links back to my sites.
I was logged in to Squidoo when I did my joining of groups, but not for PPG’s. So I’ll now fix that and start on blogs.
Regards to you and Andrea

I’m just about to start writing my articles for submission to ezinearticles.com.
Should I cast the net wider by using new keywords which are low competition or should I use back the same set of keywords I chose for my lens url?
Greg
53 Jackie and Andrea // Aug 9, 2009 at 6:36 am
Hi Greg -
As you do more promotion, it will be important to vary your phrases slightly, but for the initial OWM push - I would stick with the program and do your specific phrases.
Get all the way through the OWM process then let that campaign alone and start fresh - that’s how you get a wider net initially.
Andrea

Hi Jackie &Andrea,
Ezinearticles allows only a 3 -word hyperlink text eg. fry a turkey.
So, for eg. if a page on my website is ‘How to fry a turkey’, how do I link to it with an article which I submit to Ezinearticles.
If I simply use a 3-word hyperlink it wouldn’t do much for my webpage, would it?
Thanks
Greg
55 Jackie and Andrea // Nov 9, 2009 at 8:24 am
Yeah it’s another of the changes they have recently implemented. two options: 1. find a 3 word keyword. 2. Use a different article directory. http://www.articlebase.com has been coming up quite well in the search rankings lately ~ you might try that one.

I have my article done, I just have to do the links.
I just want to clarify, when I do the links I use my Squidoo lense and my affiliate link? Do I use my CB hoplink or my Go Daddy link?
thanks
sue
59 Jackie and Andrea // Dec 18, 2009 at 8:52 pm
Hi Sue -
Your domain should be pointed to your affiliate product which allows you to use the domain anywhere instead of the hoplink.
Ezinearticles requires that you use a domain for links. They won’t accept a link that’s created with an affiliate link.
And yes in the bio - one link to the lens with that phrase (keyword hyperlinked) and one to the domain (use the domain so it’s visible - or you’re backlinking for the affiliate page).

Andrea
62 Jackie and Andrea // Jan 15, 2010 at 12:55 pm
UAW is a bit of a different strategy. While submitting to EZA you get one super solid link to your site, UAW will send your article out to many many sites. You will get links from them all (thought it may take time for them to show up). UAW will not submit to EZA but you can use your unique article to submit it there yourself, and UAW will send out many other articles to other article directories.
In the game of backlinks, more is generally better. UAW does a great job of getting a lot of links out there with minimal effort and time on your part.

64 Gary Materra // Mar 20, 2010 at 2:31 pm
So if EZA won’t allow longer than 3 words hyperlink and half of my keywords are longer than 3 words, do I submit to EZA for half of my lenses and then to articlebase for the rest? What if I’m using UAW? Do they submit to articlebase? If so and I submit to articlebase and also UAW would that create a doubling problem?
65 Gary Materra // Mar 20, 2010 at 3:50 pm
The problem with the EZA articles is not coming up with an article, it’s coming up with a unique article for all 6 lenses. Once you’ve written an article with 4 tips for turkey frying, what’s left? You don’t have 20 other tips, 4 for each of the remaining 5 lenses! How do you manage??
66 Gary Materra // Mar 20, 2010 at 4:27 pm
In your lesson above, you say you would “link the words deep frying a turkey at the beginning and then probably turkey frying secrets.” These are two different keyword phrases and we are to have only one keyword phrase per lens. Does it matter then if the anchor text we use is the exact keyword phrase for our lens or something different? So maybe if our keyword phrase is 4 words and we only use 3 of them as anchor text to conform to EZA, that will still work? Sorry to bombard you with questions today!
Thanks!
67 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 20, 2010 at 8:33 pm
If you are using UAW I would just use UAW. If EZA will not take your longer keywords then just skip that step ~ especially if you’re using UAW.
You think of other ideas related to your topic.
top 7 hazzards of frying a turkey
top 5 safety tips for frying a turkey
top 5 tips for a perfectly fried turkey
top 5 ways side dishes to eat when frying a turkey
etc etc.
You shouldn’t have used exactly the same kw for all your lenses, so you write an article based on the topic, and find a way to use your keywords to move people to what you want them to buy.
You want at least one of your keywords to be exaclty the kw you’re targeting on your lens. You’ve got two so you can use the same or a different kw for the second link.
You need to use the exact kw as your anchor text ~ that’s how google knows the kw you are targeting. if you only use the first 3 words of your kw you may rank for only those 3 words, and that may have no search volume since it’s not what you’re targeting.
hope that helps.
Jackie
68 Gary Materra // Mar 21, 2010 at 12:55 am
Yes, it does, thanks! Apparently the actual guideline in EZA is 3 word max anchor text link if your article is less than 400 words, and 5 word max anchor text link if your article is more than 400 words. This must be their way of encouraging authors to write to their “sweet spot” of 400-750 words. So for the lens with a 4 word keyword phrase I just worked a little harder to produce a longer article.
69 Gary Materra // Mar 21, 2010 at 4:27 pm
EZA allows alternate author names, but there must be a first and last name, so something like turkeyfryingqueen wouldn’t work. Does that mean we only have one account under our real name for this and all future campaigns? What about author bio and author photo? What do you do? Thanks!
70 Gary Materra // Mar 22, 2010 at 10:58 pm
I’m hoping you’ll respond to my question above soon, as I’m holding off on my EZA submissions until I’m sure how to go about setting up the account….thanks!
71 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 23, 2010 at 7:36 am
I have all my articles under one account. You can create pen names ~ but they will have to be first and last name pen names ~ either way will work it’s up to you. Pen names is pretty complicated so I don’t do it.
72 Gary Materra // Mar 27, 2010 at 5:01 pm
So if you use one account with your your real name with EZA, does that show up to the public as the author of all your articles? And then can’t anyone discover all your articles and therefore all your niches?
73 Gary Materra // Mar 27, 2010 at 5:06 pm
Also, is it important to wait to submit articles to other directories until EZA approves and publishes your EZA articles first? The other articles will be variations on the EZA articles (minor revisions and word changes to keep unique).
74 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 27, 2010 at 5:59 pm
yes, it means everyone will see your niches and I’ve never run into a problem. Like I said it’s a personal choice.
It’s probably a good idea to wait if you aren’t submitting 100 % unique articles to the other directories.

Hi Jackie and Andrea,
It’s been awile since I have been here, but I am back again. I am wondering about Unique Article Wizard. I was reading the previous posts about and am not clear on wht it does.
1. Does UAW write your article for you if you provide keywords? What about content for maybe a blog or a Squidoo lens?
2. Does UAW sumbit your article to article directories , like EZA and others?
3. Does UAW provide unique versions of the same article that you sumbitted to EZA, and than can submit to other artticle directories?
I have one more question for now about articles, is there a service that you would recommend for content creation, artcles etc.-I guess that it would be freelancing.
I have another question that is not completely related to articles but deinitely related to marketing. Do you know if there is a maybe a free “tool” that would help me make links? Not backlins, but clikable links, like to put in the different text modules of my Squiddoo lense?
I hope my last question makes sense, if not i can try to explain better.
thanks
sue
78 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 13, 2010 at 7:50 am
Hi Sue,
UAW ~
you write the content. In fact, you create a couple different versions of each article, then UAW will create an almost unlimited number of unique versions.
You can use the unique versions anywhere you want ~ like Squidoo and elsewhere.
UAW does not submit to EZA (but you can use one of the unique versions to submit there) but it does submit your article to many other article directories ~ and blogs that accept articles ~ so you get links from a variety of sources.
I’m not familiar with anyone in particular that does writing ~ but I know UAW has kind of teamed up with a company that does the articles so and the unique versions so you can just submit them. There’s a link to the company in the dashboard of UAW.
I don’t know of anything that will create your link ~ but the code you need to use is on this post at the bottom: http://www.learnitstepbystep.com/20-the-ever-important-introduction-module.html
Just replace your link and keyword where called for.
Hope that helps.

Hi Jackie and Andrea,
I got your response about UAW, quick response time as usual. I have two more quick questions about UAW.
1. I understand I write my own article and submit it to them. I am wondering, if I submit an article, and it has grammar mistakes, will they “clean it up?” for me.
2. You had mentioned that UAW teamed up with someone to write articles, and am wondering if you know anything about that part.
Happy Sunday

80 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 13, 2010 at 5:36 pm
No they do not fix up anything.
I’m not personally familiar with the company they are using ~ I haven’t used them. They will write the 3 unique articles ~ and they may even have a way to enter them into UAW for you.
You can do a search for uaw article writing and there are quite a few services out there that will write them for you.

Hi Jackie and Andrea,
Have another question about article services, can you recommend an article writng service ?
I thinking of just having someone else write my content and would want an article that has good original, quality content with good grammar etc.
Maybe you could recommend a service that writes articles that are UAW compatible as well?
thanks

I don’t know any off hand unfortunately. I suggest you Google it and check people out. Ask questions, get samples. You could also go through the people that UAW recommend ~ I believe there’s a note at the top of the dashboard with a link.

Hi Jackie and Andrea,
I am about to submit my articles, and am wondering does it matter if I submit to EZA first or the Unique Article Wizard or could I do both at the same time?
thanks

Hi Sue -
It’s important that you submit to EZA and get published there first (sending to your own blog first would be okay … but not other directories) to meet their unique content rule.

OR ~ if you’ve done your three versions for UAW you could use one of those unique versions to submit to EZA. That’s always worked for me ~ as long as you’ve done a good job of creating three unique articles.

Hi Jackie and Andrea,
Happy Sunday.
I am looking for some feedback regarding Amazon. I am wondering if you think it is easier to do affiliate marketing with Amazon than CB? If I were to sign up with Amazon, and I don’t have a website can I use a Squidoo lens or Blogger Blog? Would there be a problem uisng one of those a website?
I thinking of maybe sigining up Amazon and just want to get some feedback before I do.
thanks

Personally I’ve found it much easier to product physical products from Amazon. You can usually find very specific keywords for a product. The more specific the keyword the farther along they are in the buying cycle.
Ex. Ironman Gravity 4000 inversion table ~ hs 3600 searches/month.
You think if someone puts that in a search engine they’re looking for information? or to buy that exact model. You build a lens that gives great information about it and links to it on Amazon and you’ve made a sale.
I do these type of lenses as “test lenses” I don’t build a whole campaign around them. I lens, 1 product.
You can use your blogger blog as the website for your Amazon application.

Hi Jackie and Andrea,
I got your resposne and am thinking of maybe doing Amazon. I know you said you could use a Blogger Blog as website for you application but could I use a Squidoo lense? I already have a Squidoo lense done but it is for a CB product , so if I used that lens to try to get accepted for Amazon would it matter the lense is on a CB product?
thanks

Hi Jackie and Andrea,
I have just another quick question and then I will try to stop pestering you for the day. Does Amazon approve applications fairly quickly?
thanks

Hi Sue, Amazon will not accept Squidoo as a website. You don’t have a to have a full blog on blogger, just a url and a couple posts. They make it really easy to apply via blogger actually. Check out this post: http://internetmarketingformommies.com/blogger-and-amazon-easy-peezy-now/
They are pretty quick to approve as I recall ~ it’s been quite a few years since I applied.

Hi Jackie and Andrea,
I am still working on my first article for EZA, a very looooong prorcess. Just a quick question, where do I find my link for my Squidoo lense, not a RSS feed link? I think once I fix this hopefully the article will be published.
thanks

Hi Sue -
You can get the link for your lens by going to your lens and copying the url from your browser.
It’ll be:
http://www.squidoo.com/YourLensName

Let’s say you made a few sales with your test lens for Ironman Gravity 4000 Inversion Table and you wanted to make a campaign out of it. In an ideal world, what domain name would you try to get, and what keywords would you target? I’m still confused on how to market for a specific brand name product…..thanks!
99 Jackie and Andrea // Aug 8, 2010 at 8:22 pm
I wouldn’t build a “campaign” per se, I would probably do a micro niche site. Target the single keyword for the site, build a wordpress site similar to my lens.
I don’t really do “campaigns” where you have 7 or 8 keywords for specific product keywords. That kind of defeats the purpose of the single keyword/specific product.

This would mean getting a domain name that includes a brand name, I assume. In your experience, does that ever pose any problems? Thanks!

It’s a personal decision you have to make. If you get a domain name with a trademarked product name in it understand there may come a time that you get asked by the company to take it down.
However, you can get pretty specific without going as specific as the brand name. A lot of people are using model numbers as their domain names ~ just the model number (if it has search volume of course).
There are so many ways to do it, you just have to figure out what’s going to work for you.
It really depends on the product, the niche, the keywords, sorry I can’t be more specific, it’s really a fluid process that depends on many factors, it’s hard to give a black and white answer.
