  Hi

  Is it necessary to be indexed before you can start doing linkings, article marketing and blogger blog marketing, or can you carry on with steps in the hope that eventually your lens will be indexed?

  Your lens will be indexed (no need to hope - grin)

  Be sure you’ve taken all of the One Week Marketing steps re. Feedage, Feedest, etc.. and move along to writing.

  And yeah I would go ahead and continue inbound linking. The more ways Google can find your sites the better

  You have it linked from your other lenses and lensrolled? If you have done those things I’d just give it a little time. (or you could submit the rss feed to the site below if you have done those things)

  If you haven’t done those things do them and then ping one or more of your lenses at http://www.feedshark.brainbliss.com/ You will need the url and the RSS feed url for your lens.

  Did I miss something? I have all my lenses linked together is that what you mean by lensrolled?

  Depends what you mean by “linked together”

  You will have them linked together in with the featured lens modules.

  You will also need to go to each of your lenses (when they are live and on the actual lens itself) and lensroll them to each other. In the “share” area in the right hand sidebar you will see a lensroll icon. When you click it you will get all your lenses, choose them all (for this campaign). You will have to go to each lens and do this to completely link the group.

  You have to publish your lens and then go the actual lens and you will see it about half way down the page. If your lenses are published you can hit the “view” button in your dashboard or just put the url in the address bar. (at the top of the page ~ where you type addresses in)

  60 hours later and still only 3 out of the 6 lenses are indexed by google. Best on all your previous answers in the matter..please, correct me if I’m wrong..
  I should continue my work on the 6 lenses, hoping that the lenses will be indexed in the near future..

  you can always re-ping after you make changes if you are talking about doing the pinging from Squidutils.

  If you mean pinging ~ as in ~ feedage/feedest, no you don’t have to do those again. They will automatically update since that is off your RSS feed.

  It seems the http://www.feedping.com site is not operating. Message says its down for maintenance and will be back in 20 minutes.

  I tried this ‘feedping’ about 2 am this morning and again about 10am and I got the same message. I’m guessing something is up with this site.

  Is there another place to go?

  No a dash in your url shouldn’t make any difference, and sometimes it just takes some time for them to all get indexed.

  Adding posts to the free ad blogs is always a great way to help your lenses get indexed, as well as submitting your feeds.

  Our of 6 lenses, 3 were indexed within 5 hours. It has now been almost 24 hours and the other 3 still are not indexed.

  You say to wait and then repeat the indexing steps. Does that mean to do another 3 blogs to 3StepAds,Unique and Writers Block?

  I already did the RSS again to Feedage and Feedest, what else can I do?

  I got something from 3StepAds about a blog called Free Adz - should I do something with them?

  I would move ahead and do the next step - you’ve hooked them together, right? So all will be indexed in due time.

  Make sure you’ve pinged thru squidutils.com and move on to article marketing (pg 38)

  Getting your Ezinearticles online asap will help with indexing also - they can take some time to get set up and approved the first time. Might want to get them started sooner than later.

  I just went to OWM and PPG says to check for indexing by putting your exact url in google search, if your lens shows up, then it is indexed. My 3 lenses show up that way but not the way the lesson above says to do the search with site: etc.

  I can get to the page and I click on Ping for the 1st lens and it goes through, but the other 5 it just acts like it is locked up, nothing happens.

  Andrea, I got on SquidUtil to contact support and I filled out all the info, then it says I have to download a “Really Simple Captcha”, so then I download that, then it says I have to have wordpress. Is there some other quick way I can get a message to them that the pinging is not working on my lenses? This is getting more frustrating than writing an article.

  Beats me - I’ve never had any problem with it. For all these third party sites - you really have to deal with them. Nothing’s written in stone that says you HAVE to use them.

  There are lots of pinging utilities (try http://pingomatic.com/ or http://pingoat.com/ ) - and only ping when you’ve updated your lenses. If you ping the RSS, once is enough.

  Also your articles will up the ante for indexing , so I would just move forward.

  Just ping the url you’ve already pinged the RSS with feedest and feedage.

  You only need to do use one ping service, they generally ping the same places.

  Afternoon Ladies, I have checked that all my lenses have indexed, but one of them google says does not match any documents, however when I put one of my other lenses in google the dodgy one comes in underneath it joined to something to do with catfish bait!!!! Squidoo seem to have accepted it as a lens(I think).

  Also have pinged them all but yahoo failed two of them and weblogs failed two do I just re-ping them all?

  You might be mis-typing it and not realize it - easy to do.

  Login to your dashboard - go to edit your lens - then ‘view’ it. That’ll take you to the live lens.

  If it’s not on your lens list, that’s a problem. Let us know.

  This is just a commentary to share with everybody. Maybe everybody knows this, but it was news to me. Two items:

  1. PPGirl recommended a new product on Clickbank. I found one and liked it and proceeded on that. It turns out that these people are not serious about their business, so I had to look for another purveyor of similar product. It turns out, as PPG said, I find myself in a super nichy niche. There is only one provider of this item, but because I was unsatisfied with them, I researched the situation and found a FABulous product. I emailed the CEO whose email I found on some blog somewhere and asked if they had an affiliate program. He responded to say they were developing one and it would be available soon. Needless to say, I am thrilled. I have a super nichy niche and hopefully a really good product that has been available for a while but with no affiliate program. Thank you, ladies.

  2. After I finally got indexed, obsessively I kept searching for my works of art (I know you say don’t obsess, but a couple of minutes is worth it). While my lenses have not made it to the top of everybody’s list, I find that the ones that have youtube videos in them are on page one of people who search you tube and enter one of my keywords. Number 8 on one of them. Wild excitement in the Servis household.

  Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. I have a good news, my lense finally got indexed. It took about two weeks, I guess that could be “normal.” I did another three blog posts, which must have helped.

  I do have a question. I am confused on trying to join groups on Squidoo. I went to Squidoo and looks like they changed the way groups are. I was reading that they don’t really have groups anymore. I don’t know if that is correct. If they don’t have groups, what do I do?

  Just recently squidoo canceled the groups and made them all into lenses. You just can’t do that part now because they no longer exist.

  Not sure how lens rolling affects Pinging or if a failed Ping is a big thing.

  My Pings have failed on SquidUtils, Yahoo Search and Weblogs for half of my lenses.

  I didn’t lens roll until after I updated my lenses and pinged them. I Pinged again to see if it would then work. But my Pinging has failed as I stated above on 3 services.

  Do I need to go back, update lenses again and then republish my lenses for the Ping again to work?

  Or is the fact the Ping failed for a few servers not a big thing?

  None of my lenses are indexed yet by Google using your technique or PPG’s after 3 days.

  My lenses are all published and 4 out of the 6 are indexed. I went to the lenses to do the lensroll, clicked on lensroll and it says “Your lensroll is empty.” I don’t see any way to add lenses, and certainly none of my lenses just show up. What do I do? Thanks!

  Ok, I got the lensroll figured out and done. Then I made other small changes to each lens and tried pinging thru Squidutils. Each time I got that error message that the lens wasn’t recently edited. So I went back to each lens and made more changes. Same result. I took one lens and went back and forth multiple times, each time with same result. Help!

  Thought I’d share a couple things that might help others too. I was having trouble with the health of my lenses, the intro titles were being dinged for being too long (they weren’t) and for not being related to my content (they were). Apparently this is a common issue and Squidoo suggests making sure your primary tag is ALSO one of your regular tags. Also make sure you PUBLISH after each change, don’t just save that section. This did the trick for me. Also I was having trouble with SquidUtils pinging as mentioned in my previous entry. I was making changes in the lenses and saving, but forgetting to PUBLISH. Stupid little thing that can make all the difference!

  The ping tool tells me “error this lens doesnt exist” that is weird seeing as it identifies the url to ping first. have i done something wrong?

  There are no longer groups at squidoo.

  Not sure what the deal is with Squidutils. I’ve had a couple have the same problem. It may be a problem with squidutils. You can go to pingomatic and input your lens url and ping it manually if you want.
