Jackie your Jing link should be .com not .org

  • 4 Jackie and Andrea // Apr 12, 2009 at 3:48 pm

sorry about the volume ~ I try to make it as loud as I can but it never seems to get louder. :( Will see what I can do.

Thanks Bernita ~ it’s been changed to .com. :)

Good morning, the info is great.

Question, is there also a way where you can capture the email address so you can store it and use it for marketing for other projects, like email marketing. Not Spam

    I hope this made sence

    Have a great day

  • 6 Jackie and Andrea // Apr 13, 2009 at 7:47 am

Yep you need an autoresponder service - we can recommend one if you want to look into it :)

    Jackie/Andrea -
I placed my clickbank product in sidebar. Why is it that, after the lens is published the product does not show. There’s other ’stuff’ there, i.e., the orange search box and below that is more.
‘This is not exactly what I expected’….lol.

    Hi Jane,

I have this problem too sometimes. You are doing an image right? It has to be an image to keep the “read more” area at bay. Make sure you have the image code near the top of your bio box. If you go to far down the image will get stuck in the “read more” section of your bio.

All I can say is try to move the code for the image a little closer to the top of the bio box. :) Let me know if it works.

Thank you for answering my question! My campaign #2 lenses look awesome!

    Hey Jackie and Andrea,

I was wondering if you insert that “find products on Amazon” on the side bar of is that something that squidoo inserts automatically?

Also I have put a text link with my kw in my bio area on each lens, I have copied the amazon http address which takes you to the product I am promoting. Now does squidoo now that is my link or do I need to add my affiliate ID?

I’m thinking this may be abit different than add the amazon product module.

    Thanks,
    Tammy

  • 12 Tammy Smith // Apr 15, 2009 at 3:56 pm

    opps,
now is suppose to be know , does squidoo know that is my link.

  • 13 Tammy Smith // Apr 15, 2009 at 4:16 pm

Ok, disregard the amazon in the side bar question I see I have one on my lens too.

  • 14 Jackie and Andrea // Apr 15, 2009 at 7:05 pm

You can’t just grab the product link at amazon ~ you have to be an affiliate and go to the affiliate center and grab your particular affiliate link.

once you are an affiliate there is now a great little “task bar” for lack of a better word at the top of amazon that says link here, and allows you to link to any page of the sight simply by clicking the link.

    It’s way cool.

    Jackie -
I found when I ‘jinged’ the fly-in opt-in box for my product which is for free info, it links to my main product. It won’t allow for anyone to fill in the form if they want the free information. The link does not work.

Is there a way to fix that?

    Jane.

  • 16 Jackie and Andrea // Apr 16, 2009 at 4:09 am

    Hi Jane -

No it’s an image not a form. The linked image should be pointed at your regular affiliate link where they’ll get the fly-in.

Alternatively, if you were wanting to build your own list for this niche (kinda outside the scope of OWM) - you would need an autoresponder service. Listbuilding will come to be an important component to your affiliate marketing activities. Ideal to build your own customer list rather than someone else’s only, right?

    Andrea

  • 17 Bernita Burdick // Apr 16, 2009 at 9:08 am

Do you know if Jennifer is going to expand on OWM to include list building and other components to internet marketing?

If not, HINT HINT ladies. I want a reliable source to show me the ropes.

Thanks for all the wonderful help you have given me. It has made this process almost painless…lol

Eeek, having Jing trouble. I can capture the image. It says it is saving the code. But it seems to always disappear. Even if it mysteriously appears, I hit the 3 up arrows, get some code and put it in the sidebar. But it is just a smidgeon of code, nothing like in your videos. And when I put it in, it just sits there as code and no image appears. What am I doing wrong?

  • 19 Jackie and Andrea // May 14, 2009 at 4:11 pm

    Hey Linda,

You have to create an embed button in jing. I just put together a post on the blog that walks you through it step by step. ;)

Well here is a real newbie question, how do I use my clipboard, you mention above that you put your codes on your clipboard, etc.

    Feeling a little dumb!

  • 21 Carole Rowland // May 23, 2009 at 3:13 pm

I have added the OptIn from my sales page with the Most Important Thing module. However, it is not centered in the box. I have resized the OptIn as you showed, but then it gets a little blury so I sized it back down. How can I center it and make the orange box frame it like your demo?

  • 22 Carole Rowland // May 23, 2009 at 4:25 pm

Not sure what is happening. I have put both the captured url’s on a notepad, then I go to copy/paste them in my lens and it does not work. the url shows after saving and has lines skipped. What am I doing wrong??

Not sure if I’ve missed it, but is there somehow a way that I can preview my lenses as they will actually appear, without/prior to publishing?
    RUSSELL

  • 24 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 1, 2009 at 8:29 pm

Nope, you gotta publish to see it.

    Hi Andrea and Jackie,
I have been trying to get the optin screen capture into the most mportant thing. this is probably obvious but.
I saved the image on the clipboard as .png and edited it in the snagit editor. How do I convert the.png to html to put the whole thing into the box?
    Thanks,
    Faye

  • 26 Carole Rowland // Jun 21, 2009 at 5:59 pm

Can you put an image that you captured with Jing within a text box where the photo goes?

  • 27 Carole Rowland // Jun 21, 2009 at 6:37 pm

I captured an image and am trying to put in my Amazon affiliate code - it is very long.

How do I convert from a url to html, is there some simple software out there like Hyperlinks? Hyperlinks is great if you have some text you want clickable.

    thanks,
    C

  • 28 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 21, 2009 at 7:23 pm

    Faye,

You have to upload your image somewhere ~ either your own hosting or on a photo site like photobucket to get the url to use in html.

  • 29 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 21, 2009 at 7:28 pm

    Carole ~

Here’s a blog post where we covered using your jings in a text doc.

http://www.learnitstepbystep.com/blog/the-wonderful-world-of-jing.html. This is also discussed in the video on this post. :)

Here’s another blog post that shows you how to make a clickable image.

    http://www.learnitstepbystep.com/blog/how-to-make-a-clickable-image.html.

A url is PART of html. You need a URL to point your link to.

    Hi jackie,
I figured it out. Screencast has a place that once the buttons are customized you can get the code, links etc.
If I want to center and image in the orange box, can I put align center somewhere in the code and where would it go?
    Thanks,
    Faye

  • 31 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 21, 2009 at 8:36 pm

For some reason I have a hard time making center work ~ but go ahead and try it.

Here’s a post we did on html for squidoo.

    Jackie,

I have an image I want to add to my lens, but it also has 5 add’l pics underneath which you can click on one and it enlarges it. Kind of like getting different views of an item or different colors.

How do I make this work on my lens?

    Thanks
    C

  • 33 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 22, 2009 at 11:54 am

    Hi Carole -

Sounds like a script you’re talking about? Pretty sure Squidoo isn’t set up to do that.

Remember too that this isn’t the sales page - you want to tell a story and then present your affiliate link as the ’solution’ - the sales page does the selling.

Hi Jackie, I am having trouble getting a photo of my amazon product to be clickable on one of my lenses. I looked above and clicked on the link for your blog, but it says it is no longer available.

    any other reference?

    Hi Carole,
Not sure what is going on with that post but here’s the address: http://www.learnitstepbystep.com/blog/?p=79

Hello Jackie/Andrea/Hanna, being a newbie I just do no understand what is the opt-in-box. I visited various Amazon products including the ones belonging to my campaign. I just do not see the flying in box. I down loaded Jing by the way. My next question I have my products links in my lenses, does the image I am trying to get to my lenses have to match my links in order to get paid by Amazon or I can use any image related to my product links?

  • 37 Jackie and Andrea // Nov 26, 2009 at 9:06 am

    Hi Rafael -

Not all affiliate products are going to have optin boxes. You use what’s available from the seller.

In Amazon’s case, you have product images. And yes, you can use any image .

Hello ladies, I just want to know if there is a lesson on how to build a website within your program. thank you.

  • 39 Jackie and Andrea // Dec 3, 2009 at 6:03 pm

There are instructions on building a wordpress blog to use for a niche site in the last lesson group. You can take a look at all the available lessons by clicking the “lessons” link at the very top of the page. :)

Hello ladies, I am trying to add the by Amazon box and image of the product using Squidutilities. I get my link ok and paste it into my module, but I only get the text with no Amazon add and/or image. Don’t know what I am doing wrong. Please help. Thank you.

  • 41 Jackie and Andrea // Dec 13, 2009 at 9:10 pm

it’s possible the product doesn’t have an image that goes with the ad ~ for some reason that happens to me sometimes too ~ try adding the code again, make sure you get ALL the code. If it still doesn’t work it may just be the product.

    Hi Jackie and Andrea
I just want to say a big thanks.I had a tough time in adding images and getting the embedded code to my lens. Going through your comments page and your video posts, I got the answer to my problem.I feel really nice.THANKS

Ok, I went to Amazon to an image of my product. I used Jing to capture it, then went to my lens, right clicked and pasted the code into the text area. But it doesn’t work. I tried watching your videos several times but it goes by quickly and there’s no place to pause the video to see how you’re changing the code. But it looks like the code you got from Jing is much longer than mine. Here’s mine: http://screencast.com/t/YWU1NTY1. Now am I supposed to somehow add my product link to this? Not clear how…..thanks!

  • 45 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 28, 2010 at 7:01 pm

if you hover over the video with your cursor a pause button will show up.

    Jackie

  • 46 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 28, 2010 at 7:03 pm

You have to set up an “embed” code button on jing. If you just do the link it won’t work. We talked about how to set up the embed code button in this post. Did you do that part?

    jackie

  • 47 Gary Materra // Feb 28, 2010 at 7:38 pm

I’m sorry, I had read all the comments before, but sometimes it’s hard to keep everything in my head! Ok, I got it now. So now my Intro module has the image of my product, but Squidoo is still saying “No Image Yet.” I assume that will go away when I publish the lens. Is there an advantage to getting the image via Jing as opposed to uploading an image the usual way Squidoo is expecting?

  • 48 Gary Materra // Feb 28, 2010 at 7:50 pm

One more thing, this product image that I just put in the intro area, should that instead be in the bio box? If I put in the bio box, what kind of image should be in the intro area, if any? Thanks!

  • 49 Jackie and Andrea // Feb 28, 2010 at 8:06 pm

This lesson talked about adding an image to your bio area. It does not have an upload/browse button which is why we showed you how to do it with jing. There’s NO need to use jing in your actual lens, just use the browse/upload buttons that are available through the modules.

You will need to use the upload button in the intro module for the image to show up. I’m not sure that a product image is the best thing to use for your image in the intro module ~ you want something related to the topic, but not really the product image.

Yes, you definitely need an image in your intro module ~ just try to think of something that relates to your topic/keywords to use there.

  • 50 Gary Materra // Mar 1, 2010 at 12:35 am

I’m sorry, I’m confused. Lesson 15 on Personalizing your Account talked about creating your bio and uploading a lens-related image through the browse window. So I’ve had an image in the bio area since then. Should I remove the image that I uploaded then and put the Jing image directly into the bio text area?

  • 51 Jackie and Andrea // Mar 1, 2010 at 8:33 am

No not at all. This just shows you how you can add an image to the bio area of your sidebar (in addition to YOUR picture).
