Hi Jackie and Andrea,
I was just wondering if you are able to use Amazon.ca in your squidoo lenses.
If you are can you please explain how to go about this procedure.
Thanks,
Tammy

Hey Tammy,
Are you wanting to use your ca links so you can get paid in canadian or because you’re focusing on canadian market, or what.
I would think if you get the links they will go in the lens. You have to use the text link though since Squidoo doesn’t do scripts.

Hey Jackie,
Okay I will try that.
This is to have a link to Amazon.ca on one of my lenses because my husband shops at Amazon.ca and I might as well benefit from his shopping.

Still confused on a basic issue. Can we promote more than one thing on our lens? So it is set up to promote the main product, but by putting an amazon link, can we promote others.
I am doing a cooking lens, can I sell cookbooks too?? Ooops, that would be “presell”.

I did a link to Amazon just as you said, and it seemed to work fine. I wrote my heart out. Then it said put in the link. I had already put it in and it was correct. I clicked save again and the whole thing seems to have disappeared. Can I get it back?? Also should I have put it in an Amazon module rather than just a regular link module.
Sorry for so many questions today.

Hi Linda -
Re. the links to multiple aff products - you should keep this to a bare minimum. Sometimes it makes sense to add a supplemental item, but mostly you want to focus on a single outcome - get the click to your affiliate sales page.
The more variables you add (the more places they can click away from where you most want them to go), the more diluted your traffic becomes.

Not sure what happened to your written piece without being there :-/
These Amazon links would be used in the same manner as the Clickbank links. They can be used in any module that will accept html.

Just discovered why my link to Amazon didn’t work. The way you describe doesn’t work anymore (something about IF frames). I located a faq called How to Add Amazon Product Links and after much effort, it does work. Do not watch the video by Tiffany Dow, tho, that is old stuff and doesn’t work any more. Just click on “Amazon” under Standard Amazon Modules, and dog willing, it works. Whew.

Hi Linda,
The way we explain it does work. You can only use a TEXT link from amazon unless you go to squidutils.com and use his form there.
The above instructions are showing you how to add a text link from Amazon ~ you’re right. The image links don’t work.

I have been looking at YouTube videos trying to find some to add to my lenses. Most of them had additional ad’s that pop up, will this show up on my lens if I use this video? If so, is there a way to sort through to not waste time on the videos that have ad’s on them?
Also, can you use any video on YouTube?
Thanks,

I have the strangest thing going here. I am attempting to put an amazon connection link on my blog. You no longer get a choice of text, etc. And you have to insert in a blank what you want the link to say..like click here. I did all that, then highlighted and cut and paste onto my wp blog. Seemed to work fine, but in preview it gives me a page that says “page not found.” I can see the HTML , It appears to be correct, when I compare it with the amazon site. Got a suggestion? Could the Amazon part be the problem?
18 Jackie and Andrea // May 25, 2009 at 7:30 pm
May be the product you are trying to link to ~ I tried a link for a book, and it worked as described above. Not sure what the problem is ~ but this might help from the the discussion board:

I cannot get Amazon to work for me. Above is what I get after I put the html into the box and click ‘Save’. Can you tell me I’m doing wrong?
Thanks … RUSSELL

Are you using an Amazon module?
If you are you should not have to use any html, just enter a keyword or title.

Thanks Jackie, the above problem solved!
Now, can I use a review of an Amazon book as a description in my lens? (I’d include all the reviewers details, etc).
RUSSELL
22 Jackie and Andrea // Jun 4, 2009 at 8:48 pm
yeah I like to use the reviews as the content in the amazon spotlight module.
Or even just in a text module that has reviews of a product in it.

Hi Jackie & Andrea
I’m trying to get my 1st Squidoo lens up for Christmas gift season but have problems with Amazon. I’ve got my text link up in my intro and it works fine. Now I want to get a product pic up with my intro, with further product-in-action pics in later text modules. No matter what I try I can’t get the pics from Amazon into my lens. I’ve read Lesson 20A and watched your video over and over. All to no avail. Can you tell me what I must being doing wrong and what action I should take to achieve my objective. Your advice in simple terms would be gratefully received.
Thanks
RUSSELL
PS Can I increase and/or change the type font in my text link?
24 Russell Hart // Oct 2, 2009 at 1:24 am
Sorry Jackie & Andrea
A further query just occurred to me. My Amazon text link is extremely long. Can I shorten this effectively in some way and still have it “clickable”? Or should I mask it with a Domain Name? Ideally I’d like to shorten it to be my 4-word Keyword, which is already my Squidoo UDL, and I believe I could probably get a Domain name with the same words. What do you advise?
Thanks again
RUSSELL
25 Jackie and Andrea // Oct 2, 2009 at 8:10 am
Russell,
You should be using html so the words people click on when they click your link ARE your 4 word keyword, your actual link should NOT be showing on your lens.
When you went to Amazon did you click on the image and then choose “save image as” from the options? This will save the image to your computer. Then when you click the browse button in your intro module you will have the option to choose the image you saved.
If you’ve done that and it’s showing up black it’s because some products in Amazon have a zoom feature, and that doesn’t translate to Squidoo, so all you get is a black box. What I suggest is going to the product page at Amazon ~ right click on the small image right there on the page. Don’t left click or it will make the image bigger and you will get all the features just right click save as on the small image and it will probably work.
You don’t want to increase your font for your links. You don’t want to be shouting at people BUY ME BUY ME you’re just giving them great information about the product.
Hope that helps.

Thanks Jackie … I’m just about to go and try the image/pic thing now.
But in regard to my text link/keyword, I did just as shown in your video, cut and pasted the html from Amazon and got the actual, very long, product name onto my lens which obviously works well as a clickable link back to appropriate Amazon product page. This appears to me to be what you achieved in your video with the book title. Are you saying that I should somehow change my clickable product name to my chosen keywords? If so, how do I do this?
Sorry if I appear slightly dense over all of this!!
Regards and thanks again,
RUSSELL

IF you want to change the words that show up as the text of your link just put the keywords you want to show up in the text for link box at Amazon.

Hope that makes sense.

Hello ladies, before I sent my querry I looked at all the question from other members to look for the answer but no luck. I did not want to overwhelm you. I am not as advanced as other people I guess. Anyway, I want to transfer my Amazon link to my Squidoo lens as you explain, but you lost me. The video is not all clear to me. I did copy the link from the instruction after highlighted it (right click) then went to my lens. How do I get this link into the lens? thank you a lot

Hi Rafael,
When you get to your lens, open the module you want your link in, then right click and hit paste, where you want your link to be.

If you start a free blog at blogger you can set up your amazon account directly through there. You’ll need the blog later anyway.

Hi Jackie and Andrea
Thanks for the ever so quick response. I deeply appreciate your response.Any tips about writing something on my general blog ?
35 Jackie and Andrea // Jan 28, 2010 at 12:00 pm
You can put up any kind of content on your blog you want ~ you just want to make sure that you use your keywords as the anchor text to point back to your lens. The bum marketing lesson has more info on writing more content ~ the resources that lesson points to can be used for blog posts as well as articles.
I’ve also been working on a content creation series on my blog. It might give you some ideas about more ways to create content:
